Benny Gold offers a look into a collaborative project with fellow Bay area label Rebel8. The graphics combine of Mike Giant’s amazing hand styles with familiar sayings and images from Benny Gold’s work. Both Rebel8 and Benny Gold will drop different online exclusive shirts at their respective web stores this week. There will also be one additional t-shirt released to retail on November 1, 2009 alongside a New Era cap in two colorways. Mike Giant produced a nice graphic, showing off his ‘64 Black Cinelli Super-Corsa bike and offered it to the Italian bike maker. They liked it so much, that they will soon be releasing it as a limited edition poster.

The Magda Danysz Gallery is pleased to welcome two major artists from the street art scene who have developed very unique styles of their own : Dalek and Mike Giant. Though they have very different styles they talk about the same culture, the same influences and the same world.

Dalek is one of the artists who just like Shepard Fairey, Dave Kinsey, and Twist (aka Barry McGee) is taking the old school styles of graffiti while exposing the work to a whole new audience.

Mike Giant has added the whole tattoo culture to his graffiti background. He started writing in 1989. Early on, he was influenced by his graffiti partners a lot, as well as by writers like Twist, Rem, and KR. A habit he has kept from his graffiti years as now, Mike Giant uses words as the building blocks of language.

The exhibition runs from April 25th until May 23rd. Example works of both artists follow after the jump.

The new issue of French Clark Magazine will be released tomorrow. After working on previous issues with Alife and Parra, they now got together with Mike Giant. The magazine comes with two different cover artworks by the artist. Issue 34 features : Henry Rollins, Tommy Guerrero, Julien Beyneton, Sozy One, French, Kanye West, A-Trak, Rohff, Birdy Nann Nann & many more…. Also the outro artwork was done by artist Grotesk.

We gave you a first look at this interesting collaboration a while back. Now that we are getting close to the release we can give you a detailed look at the footwear and apparel that comes as part of the Mike Giant Pack.

Mike Giant and REBEL8 have partnered with Vans to bring you the “Mike Giant Pack”. Featuring collaborative footwear and apparel custom-designed by REBEL 8 and Vans, these products not only showcase Mike’s unique artistic style, but also the ablility of skateboarding culture to foster freedom and creativity as a lifestyle.

Rebel8, the San Francisco based skate/graffiti/tattoo brand and brainchild of Mike Giant and partner Joshy D., have teamed up on a special sneaker and t-shirt pack for Holiday 2008.

Dropping this November, the pack features the Vans No Skool 2 Mid, J-Lay, Chukka Low, Sk8 Hi Pro and Slip-on Pro, as well as four t-shirts. Each shoe features custom graphics by Rebel8 and the t-shirts feature hand-drawn graphics, that showcase Mike Giant’s unique style.

In an ongoing effort to support the art community, Dragon has teamed up with Mike GIANT in the next phase of their Dragon Artist Project (DAP) with eyewear. This May 15, Dragon will release 2500 limited edition Mike GIANT Calavera sunglasses to select retailers worldwide.
The limited edition GIANT Calavera comes with a special collectors box, custom sunglass bag and mini booklet about the DAP/GIANT projects. The sunglass will retail for $125.00 USD and be sold at select retailers. GIANT has also collaborated on a limited edition MX Goggle and has a Limited edition Snow goggle releasing this winter. To commemorate the release, GIANT has designed a custom poster run of 300 for promotional distribution.

REBEL8, founded by artist Joshy D., has worked with Vans on a pack. The pack consists of several sneakers, as well as t-shirts. Mike Giant designed all illustrations for a total of five sneakers: a Chukka Low, a J-Lay, a No Skool 2 Mid, a Sk8-Hi, and a Slip-On. Otherwise the the entire REBEL8 team and Vans worked together on the pack. The pack starts shipping in November. Via Mashkulture.
