The new Mike Shinoda “Glorious Excess (Dies)” exhibition will be opening soon at the Japanese American National Museum. We get a nice preview of the works on display.

“It’s stunning ~ a definite must see ~ and what’s nice is that besides the fact that the work is technically beautiful and a fun mix of skulls, urban art, “vanitas”, mixed media wallpapering with gossip rags, a casket and silver skeleton, video and more… the way it all comes together as a thought provoking look at the life (and death) of celebrity through paparazzi and the consumption engine behind it all is fascinating ~ especially coming from Shinoda who is most known for Linkin Park and Fort Minor, and he is also an Art Center trained graphic artist and illustrator.”

After a first initial preview last week, we can give you a more detailed look and more information on the latest DC Remix Series Project. Once again DC worked with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, this time on their Xander high top sneaker.

Mike chose traditional Japanese patterns and koi scale textures for his shoe and packaging; the sole features custom fish scale tooling created just for this project and artwork sublimated underneath. The many patterns in the in-box booklet and packaging reference fabrics and origami paper patterns that surrounded Shinoda growing up.

After working with Lemar & Dauley and others, DC continues to push the Xander with collaborations. Once again they worked with Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. The sneaker comes with a clean white leather upper, beige leather accents and green graphics and signature. It also features a fish scale clear rubber sole. The sneaker is now available at Standard.

For Spring 2009, DC continues their Artist Remix Series project with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda. Mike designed another pair of low top sneakers for Spring 2009, using traditional Japanese patterns and Koi scale textures as a theme for the project. Unique to his shoes are clear Koi scale patterned soles that reveal Mike’s artwork embedded in the footbeds. Renditions of Mike’s latest works are also found on the shoes uppers, insole and outsoles, with his signature stitched into the shoes’ heels. Accompanying each pair of shoes is a limited edition booklet of Mike’s artwork.

Look out for the new DC x Mike Shinoda Spring 2009 Sneakers in stores very soon.

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has teamed with long time supporter DC for his second Remix Series™ project with the brand. Shinoda’s custom designed shoes will be released August 2008 and showcase an often unseen side of the musician. Before he found fame as front man of Linkin Park, Mike attended the Art Center College of Design in California and anticipated a career to follow suit. He remains involved with his first passion of art, designing all of Linkin Park’s branding over the years, and now contributing to his latest DC project. Proceeds from the MSDC Remix Series™ project will go to the Michael K. Shinoda Endowed Scholarship in support of his alma mater.
Mike designed two pairs of limited edition DC shoes, The MSDC Xander and the MSDC Pride, using traditional Japanese patterns and Koi scale textures as a theme for the project. Unique to his shoes are clear Koi scale patterned soles that reveal Mike’s artwork embedded in the footbeds. Renditions of Mike’s latest works are also found on the shoes uppers, insole and outsoles, with his signature stitched into the shoes’ heels. Mike’s shoes will be showcased to the public for the first time during his gallery show, Born held at the Japanese American National Museum. An opening event will be held for the public on July 11th, 2008 from 8 -10pm. Both the DCMS Xander and DCMS Pride will then be available for sale beginning August 1st at exclusive footwear boutiques worldwide and on Mike’s website.

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has also made quite a name for himself int he art scene, as recently reported by us. Here we give you now a preview of an upcoming DC Shoe, that the musician and artist designed. So far we can see that the shoe comes in a green/tan colorway with red accents and features both Mike Shinodas and the DC logoon the tongue and laser engraved graphics on the side panels.

Mike Shinoda, artists and musician, is set to open the first of two exhibitions at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles on July 12. The show, which runs through August 3, is titled Glorious Excess (BORN). Included is the painting "SONG" which you can see above. 
DC Shoes is sponsoring the event and to coincide with the exhibition will release a special edition sneaker designed by Mike. All proceeds from the sale of the shoe will go to charity. Images after the jump.
