Mike23 Inc. Vs. Nike – Cease And Desist

18 March 2008, 13.59 | Posted in Other | No comments »

mike23 nike cease and desist - highsnobiety
Scott Nelson built up his brand Mike23 referencing Nike and specifically Jordan design trademarks over the years. The brand itself was supposed to be an homage to what Nike has built themselves. Now they got a cease and desist from Nike.
On one side we are surprised that Nike waited that long, on the other side Mike23 promoted the ideals of Nike and was not making fun of any of them or promoting a negative image. Mostly one heard that Nike is actually a fan of what Mike23 has been doing over the years. That seems to have changed.
Murketing has the full story here. Make sure to read it for all the background information and also their analysis in general of the big companies going after the small guys.
We hope to see Nike stepping away from this and that Mike23 will be able to stick around!

They come with a MIKE lens cloth and custom hard case and will be retailing for 150 USD. They will be released in two colorways, of course in the signature elephant pattern – black with gold crackle and grey with black crackle.
After the jump more detailed pics.

Mike23 Winter ‘07 Collection Preview

RTEmagicC mike23 winter07 01.jpg Mike23 Winter 07 Collection Preview
Today we present you a preview of the Mike Winter 2007 collection. Known for their iconic t-shirts with Jordan iconography, the brand has gone from a few t-shirts and accessories to a full blown collection this coming season.
The new collection has been entirely produced in Japan for quality and detail reasons and once you have seen the line, you understand that that was the right move. The new line consists of – a range of premium hoodies, crewneck sweaters, goose down jackets and vests, M65 jackets, red line selvage denim in indigo and black both washed and raw, beanies and more. We can only say that we are very impressed by how  far they have taken their theme. Would somebody have asked us, we would have been convinced that it cannot go further than t-shirts and some accessories, which was clearly wrong.
The new collection will be landing in stores around the globe towards end of October this year. Head on after the jump to see the full Mike Winter 2007 Cut & Sew collection.
