As part of their Fall/Winter 2011 Collection, Mishka is launching a series of new watches. While having been inspired with their previous watch styles by Swatch, the new ones are more going down the Timex road – simple military watches. Of course it would not be Mishka if they would not add some nice color and graphics to the mix. All in all three styles have been launched and are now available in the Mishka online store.

The Mishka Holiday 2011 Lookbook was shot in Toronto (on 35mm film) by Jeremy Jansen. The shoot features local Toronto musicians Azari & III, Damian Abraham, Jokers of the Scene, Zeds Dead & High Park styled in the latest gear from the Brooklyn-based label.

We couldn’t be happier about how the collection turned out, and we’re very excited for you guys to see it in all its glory. Whether it be one of the heavy duty winter jackets, any number of our new tees, the plethora of hats from snapbacks to fitteds and, yes, knitteds, or even some of our great new accessories, we wanted to showcase them right. So, we headed up to Canada with clothes and cameras to shoot this lookbook with some of our favorite Toronto musicians.

Mishka presents a teaser video lookbook for their Holiday 2011 collection. Shot in Toronto, Canada, the video features “Witch Housers, High Park, Disco mavens, Azari & III, longtime mopster Damian “Pink Eyes” Abraham from Fucked Up, Zeds Dead, and new Jokers of the Scene project Blank Capsule” all rocking the latest Mishka NYC goods.

Highlights of the collection include winter scarves, Death Adder beanies, varsity hoodies, a bevy of flannels, cardigans, toggle coats, and a KRANG Bear Mop shirt. Everything pictured will be out mid-to-late November through the usual Mishka outposts.

Brooklyn streets are weird enough as is without the aid of certain sticky green enhancers. Fortunately, its all in a days work for the kid, who’s more than just his routine, who he serves and what he’s pitching. This cycle is far from ordinary. With a few special customers, and some chance encounters, this one day snapshot of a Brooklyn delivery guy takes a few unusual detours and gets into the mental of the Green Monster.

Photographer Rae Threat shot a sexy lookbook for Mishka’s Fall 2011 Collection starring models Jessie Andrews and Andy San Dimas.

Jessie has this very babyish face and a grown up bod, kind of like an anime character. Andy looks a little like Olivia Munn crossed with Lara Flynn Boyle and makes incredible sounds when she’s getting boned on camera. Also she was in the porno parody of Glee and won an award for being the best lady porno performer this year.

The collection is now available at Mishka.

Besides getting our name and mugs on TV this is all pretty friggin’ cool considering the show’s plot line basically runs in sync to Greg’s and my own frustration, struggles and adventures in getting Мишка off the ground. For the bumper, the show came to our headquarters and did a short interview segment with Greg, our art director Mike Jones and Myself about the early days of the brand and our inspiration to get it started.

They also did a design for the show which was turned into a tee, raglan and pullover hoodie that will only be available via Jack Threads.

Mishka has produced a series of clothing in collaboration “intense and scary post-industrial/neo-folk music project” Death in June:

We’ve got some T-shirts because people like T-shirts, and we did some snazzy hardcore skin style polos, a button down with the life & death sigils on the collar and totenkopf-6 snaps and our prestige item, the Death in June jacket with an assortment of interchangeable patches that you can change to fit your mood or sigil preference. Our friend Star Eyes, of Trouble and Bass fame has even made a special Death in June mix that contains songs that span the length of the musical project’s long career.

All this Death in June stuff we’ve made, all coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of Death in June’s existence. To mark the occasion Douglas P. will be touring Europe. Getting the opportunity to witness a live Death in June performance is like a rare comet passing through our neck of space so if you happen to be in or near Europe I suggest you make an effort to go to a Death in June show. You might not ever get the chance again. I speak from experience when I say that it’s an intense and unforgettable experience.

Children, Plastician, Bok Bok from Night Slugs, Darq E Freaker, Redlight, Subscape, Jamie of Tomb Crew, Roska, Peigh of Nu Brand Flexxx, Spooky from Oil Gang, Alix Perez, Doorly and Rod Azlan of Dub Police.

Seasonal highlights include varsity, letterman and coaches’ jackets, plaid shirts, snapbacks, new D.A.R.T. cycling gear, rugby shirts and our knit soccer scarves. The first delivery of gear is now available through Mishka.

For this Fall, Mishka has teamed up with Outlier to produce three colorways of the Pivot Plaid Button Down Shirt.

“A few years back Outlier re imagined the button down shirt. They took it apart and rebuilt it in a way that was conducive to riding your bike, while remaining fashionable. With its innovative seam construction, the pivot offers free range movement without the restrictions usually associated with trying to ride in a men’s dress shirt. You could now reach forward on your bike without the sleeves riding up on you or the back untucking from your pants.”

Fusing the quality and functionality that we are used to see from Outlier, with the design of Mishka, results in a great range of shirts, which are now available in their online store for 84 USD.

Playing off of classic team cap looks, Mishka offers a line-up of 7 caps this season, some more colorful than others. We especially like the more classic styles with distinct Mishka DNA infused. Mishka NYC presents a video teaser to their Fall 2011 Lookbook.

“The clip was shot entirely in and around London, which provided the perfect backdrop in which to highlight our latest creations, and was directed by the ever-talented Laurence Dean and shot and edited by Joseph Rodrigues Marsh.

We got in touch with a whole cadre of talented Londoners for this video, and filmed them sauntering about town while dressed in the new Fall collection. As the clip progresses, it becomes clear this thing is a literal who’s who of British music staples and up-and-comers. We may have exhausted our DJ/producer Grime, Dubstep and House rolodex for this one, as the clip boasts appearances by the living legend, Plastician, as well as Bok Bok, one half of Night Slugs — one of the most exciting labels in the world — and if that wasn’t enough, brought out some other big guns in Redlight, Darq E. Freaker, Subscape, Tomb Crew, Roska, Peigh, Spooky (of Oil Gang), Alix Perez and Doorly.”

In an interesting new collaboration, Mishka has teamed up with Kidrobot and today they unveiled the Keep Dunny Chase Figure.

“The 2011 Мишка Dunny has arrived in a blaze of chainsaw-massacring glory ready to skin your sister’s Barbie dolls alive. The beautiful minds over at Kidrobot finally succumbed to our relentless pressure and let us fuck with the Dunny form until it was almost unrecognizable. The 3-inch troublemaker is outfitted with a cute pair of blood-splattered overalls and a mini murder weapon to boot. Although we do choose favorites, all nineteen other cuddly collectables are delightfully deranged in their own special little way.

Each individual Dunny is blind-boxed, so you never know what twisted and ultra-limited artistic creation you’ll get. But ours is a chase figure, so yeah shit’s gonna be incredibly rare to get your grubby paws on.”

It sounds like you might have to get a few Dunnys before coming across this one. The official release takes place on June 23rd, 2011.

Mishka presents their new Summer 2011 Collection Lookbook, this time featuring Diplo, Wavves, HEALTH, Congorock, 12th Planet, Pictureplane and others, showcasing the latest to come from the New York brand. Shot by Caesar Sebastian in Los Angeles, Mishka seems to take a step back from the more mature aesthetic that they were pushing in part for the last couple of seasons, concentrating once again on strong graphic t-shirts, colorful shirts, caps and accessories.

“Like for Spring, we got a slick video to tease our upcoming lookbook that teases the release of the Summer clothes themselves. This video was shot totally in Los Angeles and shows off some more of our favorite music artists and friends. 12th Planet is in it. Then there’s Diplo, with lil’ Diplo AKA Diaperlo. We’ve got The ‘87 Stick Up Kids, who’s debut we’ll be releasing later this week. Then we’ve got our pally Nathan from Wavves smoking pot and playing videogames. The Glitch Mob are in there, fucking around in a room full of gold records. Electronic bros Nadastrom can be seen walking around, looking in store windows. We got LA Weekly cover stars Tearist, who can be seen bouncing around in front of the F-Haus. Congorock’s jumping around some caves. HEALTH is there, too, taking a little stroll around their nabez. And finally, there’s Pictureplane, who we love to pieces.”

Mishka adds a new graphic to their Black Bart Bootleg series, this time in collaboration with American band Wavves. “There’s Nathan (the main Wavve) toking out with a beach alien, Black Bart, and the pièce de résistance, Chronic the Hemphog. This is a great shirt for all the fuckups, and there’s gotta be at least one or two of you out there reading this.” Available now through Mishka in both black and white tees and tanktops.

The March 24, 2011 New York edition of The New York Times ran a Critical Shopper piece on Mishka and The Hundreds’ retail presence in NYC entitled “Two Riffs on Street Wear Gone Fusion.” An excerpt follows:

THE Mishka store is a burst of bright underneath the J-M-Z tracks streaking off the Williamsburg Bridge. A life-size E.T. peers out over the unkempt block through a window trimmed with purple neon. Just inside is a Street Fighter II arcade game, rigged for free plays.

In SoHo, squeezed in among high-end boutiques, is the first New York outpost of the Hundreds. An artfully distressed mirror runs the length of one wall, and the furnishings are done in dark wood and Chesterfield-style black leather.

They’re two solutions to the same problem, the collision of hip-hop fashion, skateboarding gear and work wear that’s generally called street wear. It’s a neat trick of deracination, or post-racination. As rap music seeps more and more into the fabric of pop culture, its accouterments become more familiar. In these lines, lessons drawn from the 1990s explosion of brands like Phat Farm, Fubu, even Karl Kani are mixed with the lessons drawn from the ’90s appropriation of Polo and Tommy Hilfiger. The results are tough but relatable, a style that connotes insiderdom while excluding no one.
