Vans OTW Advocate Mister Cartoon breaks down his piece in MOCA’s Art In The Streets exhibition and opens up about his journey thus far – from his past as a tagger to his present life as an established street artist.

In part two of the Vans Time + Space series, Mister Cartoon continues his Tokyo Tattoo Tour and explains why the Japanese youth are drawn to LA culture.

“SA Studios selected world-renowned artist David Choe to contribute an original piece to the promotion for the upcoming film, Machete (releasing this Friday, September 3rd). Choe’s unique spin on the film’s poster features his infamous art bubbles that has a life of its own. Inspired by the iconic face of Machete star, Danny Trejo, Choe’s contribution is a stunning blend of the artist’s unmistakable personal style that we all know and love.

In addition, infamous tattoo artist/muralist Mister Cartoon also contributed brilliant Machete-inspired artwork in tribute to their longtime friend, Danny Trejo.”

“SA Studios was commissioned by Twentieth Century Fox to produce videos promoting the film “Machete” starring Danny Trejo. The first lifestyle video features Mister Cartoon and Danny Trejo lowriding through East LA. This video, directed by Estevan Oriol, begins the series. “

Upper Playground teamed up with legendary West Coast artist Mister Cartoon to create a t-shirt and Montana Colors Artist Can. The first in a series of four artist cans, the Mister Cartoon MTN x UP can depicts a stylized vision of LA, complete with downtown storefronts and the Virgen de Guadalupe. In addition to the Montana collaboration, Mister Cartoon has designed his first t-shirt graphic for Upper Playground with an image that combines his classic iconography with impeccable lettering. Mister Cartoon will be in San Francisco for an in-store signing this Friday, August 28th, from 5 to 7 PM, at the San Francisco store located at 220 Fillmore Street. The items are now available at UpperPlaygroundStore.com.

A tribute to Pacino and De Niro, SA Studios presents an exhibition celebrating the release of A Righteous Kill. Estevan Oriel and Mister Cartoon combined their respective talents (photography and tattooing) to design the films poster. The show includes poster art and memorabilia from films featuring the two icons. 
Up until September 14th, the exhibition will live in the space between The Last Laugh and the LA Upper Playground Shop. Location, to be exact, is 131 East 6th, Los Angeles, CA. Thanks to Juxtapoz, we’ve got some images of the show preview. Check them out after the jump.
