Monocle magazine continues to make interesting moves. After having gone into collaborative products pretty much right from the start of the magazine and having opened retail outlets in London, LA, Tokyo, Hong Kong and New York over the years, they are about to open their first cafe in Tokyo.

The Monocle Cafe will open at Yurakucho Hankyu Men’s Tokyo on 15th October. The cafe will be operated by Transit General Office, and its coffee is produced by Eiichi Kunitomo, a barista of Omotesando Koffee. Next to food and of course coffee, the cafe will also be linked to a Monocle Shop, carrying all the collaborative product and of course the latest issues of the magazine. (Via FS)

Monocle magazine has been a long time collaborator of Porter and expands their range every couple of months. The latest piece to see the light of day is the iPad Holder. Just like all product from the collaboration, the iPad Holder also comes in a khaki and black colorways and will perfectly protect your iPad, while also keeping cables and accessories in place. Pre-orders of the iPad Holder will be taken from mid August 2011 and the price is set at 140 Pounds.

Monocle also shows their support for Japan and has released the “Support Japan” bracelet today.

“The bracelet is embossed with “Support Japan” on one side and “Brooklyn Tokyo x Monocle” on the reverse. It has an adjustable button fastening and uses leather from tanneries in the Miyagi region, where the earthquake and tsunami struck. Made in Japan – for Japan.”

Monocle introduces a new winter newspaper. The new Monocle Alpino edition will be released December 16th, exclusively in mountain resorts around the globe. Since their Mediterranean issue was such a big success, we have no doubt that this one will be as well. You can pre-order it already here.

Tembea, a Japanese bag manufacturer, has adapted its range of military canvas totes and pouches exclusively for Monocle. The Tembea magazine holder is particularly fitting, purported to keep your Monocle volumes tidy back at home base. Available here.

Here are some first images of the upcoming Monocle Store to be located in New York’s West Village, after having opened doors already in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Los Angeles over the last two years. The store will be really small, just like the others, and will be stocking the magazine and all their collaborative items. Look out for the opening on August 30th.

Monocle celebrated yesterday the opening of their 3rd permanent store location, after opening London and Los Angeles before. The new store is located in the shiny new Francfranc store in Aoyama-dori, Tokyo. Make sure to visit on your next Tokyo trip.

After opening their London and LA retail ventures, as well as a temporary store on Mallorca, Monocle comes next to Hong Kong. The store will be housed inside Lane Crawford and will be a seasonal store.

“Monocle is teaming up with iconic Asian retailer Lane Crawford to create a seasonal shop. Situated within the brand’s Pacific Place home store at 88 Queensway, Admiralty, Hong Kong, the shop will open on 15 April for five weeks. The Monocle team is travelling to Hong Kong next week to celebrate the first Asian home for the Monocle Shop with a cocktail party for 1,000 subscribers, shoppers and Hong Kong friends.”

The store openes its doors on April 15th.

In an interesting collaboration J.Crew has worked with Monocle magazine, but this time a little different. The Monocle staff acted as models for the new J.Crew Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. Included in the shoot are Monocle editor-in-chief Tyler Brulee, Alexander Mills, Andrew Tuck, Robert Bound, Takeharo Sato, Saul Taylor, Tom Morris and Yoshitsugu Takagi. Also a letter by Tyler Brulee and interviews with all participants is included, resulting in an overall round production.

After the success of their first perfume collaboration on Scent One: Hinoki, Comme des Garcons links up once again with UK magazine Monocle. Scent Two: Laurel has been released this past week and premium retailers in time for the Holidays. We did not have the chance yet to test it out, but we are sure its another hit.
