Mosley Tribes is back with a new range of sunglasses for Summer 2011. The brand by the people behind Oliver Peoples, is a younger and bolder take on the eyewear game. In general Mosley Tribes presents a very solid offering and we especially like some of the new silhouettes for Summer 2011, which are both interesting in terms of materials and in terms of construction.

Our little big brothers at Selectism have the scoop on the new Mosley Tribes and Temple Bags collab for Barneys. “The collaboration case is constructed from 16oz dry canvas, salvaged from WWII era European military issue infantry bags and oiled saddle leather detailing. The frame sleeve is constructed completely out of materials re-claimed from WWII rip-stop parachutes and cords.” The frame case includes a new Mosley Tribes frame – the green mirrored lens TANA. Barneys COOP has them exclusive on the set.”

Mosley Tribes presents a beautiful special release of their Lyndel frame. The Beaded Edition comes with great hand-crafted details.

“Patterned after Native American hand woven blankets, both temples on the black Lyndel are individually hand laid using brightly colored ceramic beads. The frame design is retro-inspired in an angular plastic cut.The keyhole bridge accentuates the softly contoured lens shape while the frame front sports retro pin detailing. Hand beaded by Jenny Dayco, the former graphic designer and talent agent is self-taught in the art of jewelry designing and works in stinctively from the gut while her hands brilliantly produce each and every single piece.”

The sunglasses will be released in very limited quantities in July 2010 at Oliver Peoples boutiques in Soho and Sunset Plaza, as well as select retailers.

Native Son has collaborated with Mosley Tribes on a couple of sunglasses. They chose a clear frame and two colors of lenses. Otherwise the details are very subtle, with only a small Native Son logo being featured on the arms.

Eyewear brand Mosley Tribes provides quality, durable sunglasses and have worked with some of the biggest labels in our culture. St. Alfred has just received three colors (red, purple and white) of a new checkerboard Free City collaboration frame. Although the glasses themselves are pretty eye catching, the co-branding is subtle. Something we can always appreciate.

We take a first look at the upcoming Mosley Tribes Resort/Spring 2010 Collection line-up. They present a nice selection of sunglasses in different styles, making sure that everybody finds something in the mix.

For Spring 2010 Mosley Tribes worked with Hellz Bellz on some collaborative sunglasses. Hellz Bellz chose one Mosley Tribes frame and designed two colorways for it. The sunglasses come in brown and black with red interior linings. Look out for a release early next year.
