As we are only days away from the new year, there are of course again a wealth of new movies about to be released in the new year. We previewed many of them, but it is hard to keep track. Here is a round up of the 10 most anticipated movies releasing in 2012, bringing you up to speed.

Based on a viral video that made the rounds in 2010, the new movie Bad Ass was produced, starring Danny Trejo. For now it does not seem to be clear when the film will actually release, if it will go to festivals or to theaters. We will keep you posted. This is the official first teaser trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba star in Prometheus, which was originally conceived as a prequel to Scott’s 1979 classic Alien.

The trailer to the first part of the prequel to Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy has been released – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The film will come to theaters December 2012.

The second official trailer for The Dark Knight Rises is now online. The conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy looks to be nothing less than incredible. Catch it in theatres July 20, 2012.

Lots of great movies have released in 2011, including Super and Drive just to name a few. Genrocks presents Filmography 2011, where they present a 6 minute video that features 230 films that released in 2011. Today the first trailer of the upcoming Sacha Baron Cohen movie, The Dictator, has been released. Loosely based Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi, you can be sure that somebody will get offended, as usual. Megan Fox and Anna Faris are also featured in the movie, which comes to theaters Summer 2012.

Today the trailer for ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ has been released. Starring The Rock and Bruce Willis, the trailer shows off some nice action sequences. Certainly not a movie for all, fans will not be disappointed. The movie comes to theaters on 29th of June, 2012.

The latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, is already one of the more anticipated movie releases for 2012. Judging from the artwork that has been circulating, rightfully so. The first two teaser movie posters for the film have been revealed and create a beautiful dark atmosphere around the film – one featuring the Batman logo in the Gotham skyline and the other one featuring Bane walking away from the iconic Batman mask. The film will come to theaters Summer 2012.
