Nike Sportswear x Mr. Cartoon USA Team Kit

Nike Sportswear x Mr. Cartoon USA Team Kit

For the US Nike chose none other than Mr. Cartoon to collaborate on the team kit.

Calling himself “Mister Cartoon,” this Los Angeles street art legend has had a strong relationship with Nike for many years. His detailed black and white drawings, inspired by prison tattoos, are highly sought after in the music world and beyond. When presented with this project, Cartoon jumped at the opportunity to work on a uniform that would represent the country he loves. His eagle mascot is tough as nails, with a halo of stars and a look in his eye that says, “Don’t mess with the U.S.” On the crest, “USA” is written in Cartoon’s modified version of old English and scrolls remind wearers of the visual language of tattoos art.

Next to the apparel that comes with the team kit, Mr. Cartoon also worked on some sneakers, including the Air Zoom Tiempo, that you see here above.

Detailed images of the Nike Sportswear x Mr. Cartoon USA Team Kit follow after the jump.

Today we can finally give you a more detailed look at the collaborative watches by G-Shock with Mr. Cartoon, Todd Jordan and Redman.

“To create the three new models, Casio has collaborated with a graphic artist, a photographer, and a hip-hop artist. The results are the Mr. Cartoon model (DW-6900MRC), the Todd Jordan model (DW-5600TOD), and the Redman model (AW-591RED).”

We especially like the Todd Jordan watch, which comes in a nice black/silver colorway with matching black screen and signature.

Nike Sportswear Livestrong x Brooks Saddles x Mr. Cartoon
The Nike x Livestrong project just keeps getting better and better. As the latest extension to the campaign, Nike has created custom bike seats that match up with each shoe in the Stages collection. As many of you know, Mr Cartoons’ Livestrong AF1 was released, and subsequently sold out, across the country this past weekend. As such, the first saddle to be revealed is laser engraved with Mister Cartoon’s “LA” icon and some of his signature swirls. Although Brooks Saddles were used for the visual presentation, the saddle itself is not part of the Livestrong collection and is not a collaboration with Brooks. Unfortunately these saddles won’t be produced. Stay tuned for a look at more saddles by the likes of Futura and Busy P.

Comprehensively re designed by Mister Cartoon for this release, the new look AF1 again deploys Laser technology to provide the gritty graphics reflecting its city of origin.

Releasing along with the other high profile collaborative sneakers from the Nike Sportswear Livestrong Stages Collection, this might be your final chance to score the classic.

We see an Air Force 1, a Dunk Hi and on the right a Footscape Woven. The Dunk Hi seems to have been designed by Futura, others by So_Me, Mr. Cartoon and other great artists. Whether or not these will actually be coming out, we cannot tell you to date, but we’ll keep you posted. Via Paul Mittelman.
