Takashi Murakami, an artist that we have followed and admired for quite some time now, has recently opened his most comprehensive and complete exhibition to date at the MOCA in Los Angeles. The exhibition his showing works from the early days up until now and has a vibrant mix of paintings and sculptures. The ones among you that cannot make it to the exhibition have the chance to get an idea of what there is to see here thanks to the Hundreds.
The museum also worked with Louis Vuitton and set up a store selling collaborative items of the French luxury brand and the artist, a collaboration that has already been going on a couple of years.

Supreme x Murakami/Mr. Skate Decks & Online Store Announced

As usual, the Supreme news come in Monday morning. This time they announced an exciting collaboration with two Japanese artists. Supreme will release a series of limited edition skateboard decks designed by artists Takashi Murakami and Mr. The series will consist of three decks designed by each artist.

They will be available exclusively through the six Supreme stores (New York, Los Angeles and four locations throughout Japan) and selected retail accounts.

On September 20th, the skate decks will also be available in their new online shop (u.s. only). Just a few months ago Supreme launched their first website, which was already unexpected. An online store was definitely the last thing we would ever see from Supreme. Unfortunately the online store is U.S. only.
Otherwise this is just another impressive collaboration by the NYC brand. Thanks to them some of us get our hands on artwork that is otherwise too expensive and unattainable.

It’s been officially confirmed that a corporate Louis Vuitton shop will be situated in the middle of TAKASHI MURAKAMI’s forthcoming retrospective exhibit at LA’s MoCA (Oct 29—Feb 11). The shop will offer limited-edition handbags and small leather goods featuring Murakami designs including the ones shown after the jump at prices ranging from $875 to $920. Via Supertouch.

It’s a first for an American museum and for sure exciting for all Murakami and Louis Vuitton fans out there.
