“1987″ by Casio G-Shock, is an urban retro-style video shot on the streets of New York City, the home of BMX icon Nigel Sylvester. The video, titled 1987 the year Nigel was born, celebrates a collaborative timepiece between Casio G-Shock and Nigel. As an adult, Nigel looks back on his year of birth as a time of great creative freedom and experimentation. The film was created to capture that spirit.

The cinematography takes reference from classic arcade games. The sound design draws spirit from the associated 16 bit soundtracks that emanated from the computers of that time. The graphic approach pays homage to Casio.

Nigel Sylvester, one of the best BMX riders on the globe, recently released a limited edition collectors case, entitled Making Moves Since ‘87. The case, which Nigel curated, contains a special edition Animal New Era Cap, his signature Animal Bike Seat, a matte black G-Shock Watch, a pair of Skull Candy Headphones and a custom Nigel Sylvester Gatorade Bottle. There are only 50 of these cases in existence, each of which is valued at over $500 a piece. Lucky for you, we have a case to give away to one of our readers!

Following on the heels of their announcement of pro BMX street rider Nigel Sylvester joining Casio as an official G-Shock team rider, G-Shock will release Nigel Sylvester’s Signature timepiece, the GD100NS-7.

The stark white band and contrasting black face features the BMX pro’s signature emblazoned in red. Keeping true to Nigel’s need for a tough and durable watch that can also be worn as a fashion accessory, the GD100NS-7 is Shock Resistant and 200M Water Resistant.

The watch will release August 2011 for 110 USD.

G-Shock presents their latest commercial focussing on BMX pro rider Nigel Sylvester. Entitled ‘What I Always Dreamt Of’, the commercial captures Nigel Sylvester cruising through the streets of New York demonstrating his unique riding style. Enjoy!

We present a nice video produced by Defgrip on a recent trip by Nigel Sylvester to Japan.

“This year, Gatorade’s theme is “Go All Day.” In celebrating that theme, Gatorade wanted to start doing research on the non-traditional sports like BMX, so they hit up Nigel Sylvester, who rides for Gatorade and asked him a pretty crazy question: If you could go anywhere in the world to ride bikes with his friends, where would you go? That’s a very heavy question to ask someone, even Nigel… so after lots of research and different ideas being thrown around, Japan was chosen as the destination! With it’s huge city, amazing architecture, and lots of un-tapped spots, Japan would be the perfect location.

To document the trip, Gatorade invited a few key BMX media outlets, including Defgrip, to go along for the ride. The video you are about to watch documents the trip from the riding and research, to the culture and adventures and to coincide with the video, we will have a photo gallery with a more detailed story going up next week!”
