Converse Japan links up with Bape founder NIGO for their premium Converse Addict line. It looks like NIGO went with simple black and white canvas options for the upper of the Chuck Taylor High, added side zippers and of course these come with Vibram outer soles, just like all Converse Addict styles.

Look out for a release on March 10th, 2012.

Today we can give you a nice overview of the latest Human Made collection for Fall/Winter 2011. The brand presents their new season lookbook and of course NIGO is modeling the entire line. They continue with their heavy vintage inspiration, which sometimes goes a little too far for our taste, but we all know, if a Japanese brand decides to take a route, they take is all the way. The more formal pieces in the collection are actually our favorite, including the above blazer.

Having been a supporter of wrestling for a while already, A Bathing Ape and Nigo have entered the wrestling circus with their own fighter last year. 2011 they commemorate the fighter with an action figure and t-shirt release, dropping July 23rd at all Bape stores.

Since selling A Bathing Ape to I.T. Group a while ago, we can expect NIGO to spend some more time on his new brand Human Made. Today we take a look at the brands Spring/Summer 2011 Collection.

Taking a completely different approach from his previous brands, Human Made presents this season a more complete collection than last year, featuring denim, denim jackets, jackets, shirts, bags, caps and more. In general the line has a heavy heritage and vintage inspiration, apparent in all pieces of the collection. Also the collection includes a series of graphic t-shirts, mostly coming in white and rather simple in terms of colors and overall approach. Compared to Bape, if you can compare it at all, just a much more mature line.

Nowhere, the iconic venture by Nigo from Bape and Jun Takahashi from Undercover is turning 18 this year and the for the occasion they will be releasing a t-shirt. The tee comes in black and white, both with clean prints and camo prints. Look out for a release in the coming weeks.

Japanese retailer Beams presents a lookbook shoot for Spring/Summer 2011. Entitled “The Portraits”, the lookbook features the new collections that are coming to Beams stores in the coming months, worn by Japanese personalities from the fashion and design word. Included in the lookbook are Nigo (A Bathing Ape), Verbal (Ambush), Masamichi Katayama (Wonderwall) and many others.

Today the new Mr. Porter online store officially launched – one of the most anticipated new shops in the online menswear game. From Lanvin, Balenciaga, Junya Watanabe, Quoddy to Paul Smith, you can now find a range of great brands in the portfolio of Mr. Porter. What sets the shop apart the most from what there already is out there, is their mix of shopping and editorial. Video interviews with Paul Smith and Lucas Ossendrijver sit next to the making-of of a John Lobb shoe.

WWD sat down with Nigo from A Bathing Ape to finally shine some light on the situation of the brand and why he decided to sell the brand, as reported by us last week, to Hong Kong fashion conglomerate I.T.

““Basically, I can’t do business. I’m not suited for it. I wish I had had a partner on the business side from the beginning,” said a surprisingly upbeat Nigo, whose real name is Tomoaki Nagao. The music and fashion impresario said he always thought he would sell the company he incorporated in 1995.

“I turned 40 [last December], there was the turning point of the brand reaching nearly 20 years since its establishment, and I think I made a forward-looking choice,” he said, acknowledging the brand’s popularity in Japan has faded in recent years. “About two or three years ago the brand and the company got too big for me to handle, plus there was the problem with the economy, and the number of things I wasn’t able to control on my own increased, so I started looking for a partner.” “

Today the upcoming collaboration between A Bathing Ape and Neighborhood was announced through multiple channels. Nigo got the word out via Twitter, while Shinsuke Takizawa from Neighborhood is blogging about it and even gives us a first product preview. The collection is entitled “NHBA Brother Hood” and we cannot wait to see it. Here we give you a first look at a sneaker from the collection, as well as some more graphics that will be part of it.
