As Black History Month officially kicks off, Nike Sportswear has unveiled their collection made especially for the occasion. This Black History month 2012 collection is a nice range consisting of some great footwear including an Air Force 1, Air Max 1, Blazer High, and Huarache Free. We also see apparel in the mix with Destroyer jackets for men and women, tee shirt, and hat. Check for the collection at Nike Sportswear retailers.

Nike Sportswear has made an awesome announcement in regards to their NIKEiD program. The Air Force 1 will soon be presented with the Elephant print option. This is a very promising development. It is set to become available in February, so be on the lookout!

Nike Sportswear commissioned this wolf sculpture created by Moscow-based graphic designer Aske aka Sicksystems for their new store in Moscow. Sicksystems took the Nike Air Force 1 Duckboot to create this depiction of a wolf out of plywood. The end result is pretty awesome.

Nike Sportswear debuted this “Always On” video as part of their campaign with the same name. The video features Amar’e Stoudamire doing his thing both on and off the court set to an exclusive track from French Montana. It’s game time… all the time.

Nike Sportswear introduces five exclusive limited edition Destroyer jackets paying homage to the cities of Detroit, New Orleans, Miami, Philadelphia and Oakland. Along with city-specific imagery and community interaction, the City Destroyers celebrate the football stars that embody the spirit of those archetypical metropolises and their football tradition. The number 51, which is found on many of the different metropolitan-themed jackets, pays homage to the uniform worn by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman when he played collegiate football.

City-specific designs can be found now at select hometown retailers while the entire collection is available at the NSW New York (21 Mercer) and LA (Montalban) outposts.

Nike Sportswear celebrates Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s glorious career with a bespoke NSW Destroyer Jacket based on his tattoos:

On a standard varsity jacket, letters and patches would be sewn on to tell the world about the achievements of the athlete wearing it. But when it came to this jacket it was decided to use some of Zlatan’s tattoos and mirror these on the destroyer jackets exterior. To make it authentic Nike Sportswear involved Zlatan’s tattoo artist Christian Wagner to guide them and fashion designer Julia Hederus to help translate his tattoos onto the fabric of the jacket.

The jacket will be on display at Sneakersnstuff in Stockholm and at Precinct 5 in Amsterdam for one month starting November 21, 2011.

Highlighting an exclusive selection of Nike Sportswear product, Nike continues its partnership with (RED) by releasing three pinnacle items refurbished in red to raise awareness and inspire action to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa on December 1st – World Aids Day.

Available in limited quantities at select Nike Sportswear retailers globally, the NSW Melton DESTROYER (PRODUCT) RED, the NSW Cheyenne Backpack (PRODUCT)RED and the Nike Zoom Meriwether (PRODUCT)RED from Nike Sportswear’s Holiday 2011 Collection are the next installment of a call to action initiated in 2009 to help the (RED) mission of fighting HIV and AIDS.

Nike Sportswear selected items from its Holiday 2011 line retooled to highlight the fight against HIV/AIDS. The NSW Melton DESTROYER (PRODUCT) RED, inspired by classic letterman jackets is fashioned in red Melton wool with black leather sleeves and signature bonded zippers. The NSW Cheyenne Backpack (PRODUCT) RED, Nike’s highest level of waterproof construction, and the Nike Zoom Meriwether, a technical boot hailing from ACG with welded waterproof side zippers and the original NIKE (PRODUCT) RED laces represent the ultimate in protection against the elements while signifying commitment to a cause.

The Nike Sportswear (PRODUCT) RED Collection will release on December 1st in limited quantities at select Nike Sportswear retailers and Nike STADIUMS globally.

In the summer of 2010, Nike and USA Basketball brought the world’s best basketball teams to New York City for the inaugural World Basketball Festival. In honor of this event, Nike teamed up with Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and teen education program, Make Something, for a series of design workshops to inspire young people in and around the city. These teens have designed a series of Nike Sportswear Destroyer Jackets for the USA, France, Puerto Rico, China and Brasil.

The Nike Sportswear World Basketball Festival Destroyer Jackets are now available from NikeStore.

Nike Stadium Berlin continues to work with locals on interesting new versions of the NSW Destroyer varsity jacket. For Holiday 2011 they get together with Toykio from Dusseldorf, run by Selim Varol. Known as Europe’s biggest toy collector and one of the biggest street art collectors, he recently opened with friends the Toykio Gallery Space and Cafe in Dusseldorf, showing works by Phil Frost, Shepard Fairey, Kaws, JR, D*Face, Daniel & Geo Fuchs, Frank Kozik, Dennis Mcnett, Buffmonster, Faile, RYCA and Coarse.
