In conjunction with this summer’s ‘The Wave’ installation at Bowery Stadium is an exclusive array of surf/skate-inspired product. T-shirts, crewnecks and hooded sweatshirts are all up for customization and can be treated to a new technique where graphics are printed on raw canvas and then sewn onto the garments.
The design studio is also packed with collections of skate and surf ephemera to help provide inspiration and share the history of East Coast surf/skate culture.
The shop is open now through NY’s Fall Fashion week 2011, from Thursday to Sunday, 12 to 7pm.

Nike Stadium got together once again with the light art specialists of Lapp-Pro. After first highlighting the Brasil team kit a while back, they now worked on overall 8 Nike teamkits and once again present an inspiring light play.
“After their first take on Brasil, this time they used their heart and unrivaled imagination to celebrate The Netherlands, Slovenia, Serbia, South Korea, Portugal, Australia and USA. Each jersey took one entire night to be turned into a light artwork. No computers, no softwares, no cut and paste, no post-production: it’s all about pure, unadulterated magic.”

Nike’s latest Stadium space, at London department store Selfridges, plays host to the ultimate football experience.
From watching their favourite team’s matches live on the state-of-the-art High-Definition, 4×4-metre screen to visiting one of the rooms adjacent to the viewing stadium to play table football or the latest video games, fans will feel as close to the action as it is possible to be whilst staying in central London. There will also be an exhibition of iconic and rarely seen Nike kits to marvel at and bring back some cherished football memories.
Altogether 62 plasma screens ranging from 19” to 50” wide, all operated via a ‘Hippotizer’ system will create a wrap-around wall of sound and enhanced images within the main space to ensure the Nike Stadium at Selfridges experience is never short of breathtaking – even in between the matches.
Looking beyond the obvious support of the English football team, the Nike Stadium at Selfridges will pay homage to the most successful and feared footballing nation of all time – Brasil. The space itself takes its inspiration from the country’s famed on-pitch passion and energy and its design follows the yellow, green and blue colour cues of the national flag. Elements of Brasilian culture from dance and music to art and entertainment will be seamlessly incorporated into the Nike Stadium at Selfridges to create the ultimate sensory football experience.
To coincide with the launch of the stadium in the Ultralounge, Nike and Selfridges have also created a bespoke retail environment on the store’s first floor Menswear area. This new shopping space will showcase the very best of Nike Sportswear’s products, including a number of exclusive pieces from the NSW Collection to exclusive footwear.

Once again Nike has worked with Gkaster as part of their Stadium initiative, this time presenting the artist’s interpretation of the Elite Pack.
“Sharp creativity. Bright excellence. Technology at its best – firstly because it’s deeply imaginative, that’s the key. Gkaster maestro Pierre Magnol graced us with another astonishing contribution, this time reinterpreting the Elite Pack series.
An extraordinary visual ride where objects magically morph and become symbols underlining the features and the souls of each shoe, being it the Mercurial, the Total90, the CTR360 or the Tiempo.”

This week the latest Nike Stadium location opened its doors – the Bowery Stadium in New York City.
“The BOWERY STADIUM, officially opened last week, on the evening of Friday, May 14th to a New York crowd who witnessed the unveiling of the space, designed by Rafael de Cardenas.
The first installation is called “ORDER AND PROGRESS”, a celebration of Brazilian soccer through the lens of the NYC creative community.
That night we premiered a multi-media piece entitled “EVERYTHING IS PRACTICE”, a short film with Spike Lee directed by Jake Sumner and photography by Nabil Elderkin,
as well as a piece by Brazilian born, NYC raised creative Allen Benedikt.
The basement serves as another creative salon but with a more functional purpose in mind, with a real locker room stacked along an entire wall, we created this space as a hub for participators in sports programs to be announced this month. Serving as a forum to meet, the classic utilitarian locker room is flipped on its head with an explosion of paints created by artist Jack Greer. Along the other wall are illustrations by Gianluigi Toccafondo titled “Heroes of Speed” – making this the proverbial gym of the future.
The space will be the new home of the BOWERY STADIUM sports programs, including the NYC Bridge Runners, Goodtimes FC soccer league, NRF, WNW and more…
STADIUM will be open to the public Thursday to Sundays from 12 to 7pm, at 276 Bowery in Manhattan.”

As we get closer to the Worldcup, one Nike Stadium store after the other is opening its doors. So far we have seen Milan, Berlin and London. Today we can give you a first look at the opening of the Nike Stadium Paris, which presents the Black Magic exhibition.
“Sanghon Kim presented yesterday the first chapter of an antagonist story, called Black Magic.
The installation deals with the growing mystical influence of Africa, on football first but also on the world. Sanghon – a French/Korean artist – gives a dark/gothic interpretation of the idea of “Group of death”, through three countries: Portugal, Côte d’Ivoire and Brazil.
His work plays with the concept of building a modern mythology of sports, inspired by the true legends of three major Nike football players transfigured into gods by Magic.
Each of them has a magic colour (orange for Côte d’Ivoire, yellow for Brasil, dark red for Portugal), a magic animal – the elephant, the jaguar and the dragon (for St Georges’ myth), a magic number (11, 10, 7), a spell (strength, agility, speed) and also a magic football boot.”
Take a detailed look at the installations and the opening party after the jump.
