Oakley Fall/Winter 2009 Collection | Urbane Functionality

Honeyee produced the Urbane Functionality feature, showcasing the Oakley Fall/Winter 2009 apparel collection. We have to admit that we never really paid too much attention to the Oakley apparel, even thouh we were of course aware that the brand made huge progress in recent years. Now looking at the lookbook images of their latest collection, one can clearly say that Oakley has dramatically stepped up their game, presenting a strong, technical inspired, well designed collection of mostly outerwear goods. The colors, details, cuts – it all seems to looking very good, at least from the images. We also like a lot the overall subtle branding in the collection, which pays more attention to key functionality.

Take a further look at the Oakley Fall/Winter 2009 Collection after the jump.

Commonwealth x Oakley Frogskin Sunglasses

Commonwealth x Oakley Frogskins

Commonwealth introduces an exemplary approach to their version of the Oakley Frogskin®. The Commonwealth rendition features an original “Cmonflauge” pattern inspired by the look of traditional tortoise shell. Using Oakley’s High Definition Optics®, the sunglasses are equipped with your choice of Gold or Fire Iridium lenses.

In favor of having the product speak for itself, branding efforts were kept to minimum with a tonal Oakley logo on the outside temple as well as Commonwealth’s “C’MON” ribbon printed on the inside of the arm.

The Commonwealth & Oakley Frogskins® are sure to be a timeless classic that stands out amidst the parade of novelty accessory. Made in the USA, with a production run of only 150 pairs, look for these to be available exclusively at Commonwealth stores and online at Cmonwealth.com.

Look for an upcoming campaign featuring the Commonwealth & Oakley Frogskins on the faces of Pusha T from the Clipse, Chad Hugo from N.E.R.D, Wale, Levi Maestro, and the staff from Commonwealth.

The sunglasses will be released on Labor Day, September 7th.

Oakley x Eric Koston Collection Teaser

Earlier in the year, Oakley signed Eric Koston to their skate team further solidifying an already stellar team. As part of this amazing signing, Oakley will be releasing product influenced by the legendary skater beginning this Holiday season.

For the initial release, Koston hit the Oakley design lab to provide some valuable insight and design ideas, which were utilized to create three unique pieces: a rugged ballistic nylon backpack in all black; a simple and handy military inspired daypack; and a pair of wood grain Oakley Frogskins.

The ballistic nylon backpack possesses all the features needed to carry around the goods with functional compartments for your laptop and any other things you need for life on the go. Its spacious capacity is masked by all black styling giving the bag a slim and serious look. Textured synthetic leather can be found throughout the exterior and the interior features a grey and black wood grain print, which is found throughout this collection. Subtle Square O branding as well as the newly designed EK logo are tastefully placed as to not distract from the simplicity of the bag.

The military inspired daypack is about as simple as it gets without sacrificing functionality. A standard rectangular shape comprised of a sturdy canvas and high quality synthetic, tumbled leather sums up its outer makeup with the grey wood grain print adorning the inner lining. A drawstring closing system a top the main compartment makes it easy to pack and seal it in and a simple snap front pouch in the front adds a bit more storage space.

Now, last, but not least, are the special edition Frogskins. The striking wood grain pattern used in both bags is found prominently on these sunglasses accompanied by dark grey lenses. Another interesting feature found is the texture itself, which feels as if someone whittled a piece of wood into these amazing frames. A pouch bearing the same print and EK logo round it out for what promises to be one of the most sought after Frogskins of the year. More on this collaboration very soon.
