oakley shop gentei frogskin sunglasses 540x302 Shop Gentei x Oakley Frogskin Sunglasses

Today we can give you a first look at the upcoming collaboration between Oakley and Shop Gentei on the iconic Frogkin sunglasses. Restricted to a production run of only 100 pieces, these were personally retooled and re-imagined by Gentei founder and creative director Oliver Jones to create a conceptually complete product from start to finish. Amber-tinted lenses specifically made for night riding and overcast days, inside black fade-to-clear frames with the Gentei logo in chrome on the inside. ’60s vintage styling cues combined with the timeless Frogskins silhouette to create a wholly new interpretation of an icon. The project is rounded out by a Jones-designed microfiber bag, included with each pair.

All 100 pairs will be sold exclusively at Shop Gentei and ShopGentei.com and will be available on Saturday, June 13.

We have always been big fans of Oakley sunglasses and goggles, but we have to admit that their apparel has been pretty much overlooked by us until now. Oakley introduces their new High Function Line and we like a lot what we are seeing. Classic styles get re-interpreted, received subtle details, lots of functionality, while still being very wearable and looking very good.

The initial offering consists of an M-65 Jacket, the Castro technical Jacket, the Havana Sweater and the Cuba Shirt. While looking simple at first, each piece comes with a multitude of technical features, even the shirts. The line is now available in the honeyee.store.

Oakley will be launching a High Function Line, taking their technical expertise a step further in their clothing. The first two jackets to come from the collection are the 10th MTN Seamed Jacket and a M-65 jacket. We have to mention the resemblance to Acronym, a brand that is also known for their highly technical black outerwear. Furthermore the Oakley jackets also feature a headphone magnet, a feature that Acronym has first come out with years ago. Nevertheless we are excited to see the gear live and test it out. We seen a nice line-up in the Oakley artist series recently, including collaborations with Frank Kozik, Kaws/Original Fake and Barry McGee. Next one up is artist Andrew Petterson with a special project on the classic Frogskins.

The artist hand customized 50 pairs of Oakley Frogskins, producing 50 one of a kind sunglasses. That’s what we call a real artist edition. The sunglasses will be released very soon at a selected group of retailers, including Blends.

Here we give you a first look at some styles that the artist created!
