According to our sources, “Agharta” either refers to “the Subterranean World or Empire in whose existence all true Buddhists fervently believe,” or a manga series about a girl with pink hair. The latter seems to make more sense for these sneakers, though it’s probably not an official nod. Either way, these Vault Old Skool LX’s are mighty fine in tonal suede with a contrast perforated leather tongue. The all white midsole is a nice touch as well. We’d like to see these in a greyscale version.

For Fall 2010, Vans is offering gum sole versions of their hi top Mountain Edition and popular low cut Old Skool. Available in two different colors – Navy and Black – the shoes are featured in suede with contrast stitching and details. Shipping late July.

Blends San Deigo reveals their Vault by Vans x MLB sneaker for the Padres. You know the drill by now, the Old Skool LX is limited to only 12 pairs, comes with a matching Majestic Authentic Jersey, can only be found at Blends and drops on the day of the Padres home opener. That is, Monday, April 12 at 1pm. The Padres face the Atlanta Braves later that day.

Celebrating the 20 year career of the legendary skater, Vans re-issues four of Ray Barbee’s favorite shoes. Each shoe has been reproduced with period correct artwork, construction, materials, color and packaging. The release consists of the Era ‘87, Chukka ‘95 and two colorways in the Old Skool ‘92. Available now at Proper.

Japan’s Ollie Magazine gets together with Vans on the MAD Ollie Old Skool. The sneaker commemorates this year’s MAD Ollie music festival. It comes in a classic black suede upper with checkered mid-sole and further details on the in-sole and tongue. The sneaker is now available at Vans Japan dealers.

The HUF Dirtbag Crew applied their design expertise to a pair of Vans Old Skools. Featuring a mix of leather, suede and canvas the sneakers are adorned with several prominent HUF logos alongside triangular prints across the midsole. The shoes come in three tonal colorways: blue, black and red. Expect HUF to do numbers like Sudoku when these hit on October 17th, 2009. Only at HUF flagship stores.
