The Soloist x Oliver Peoples Eyewear

Having already proven to be a successful working relationship, The Soloist and Oliver Peoples ride together again for their second eyewear installment. Given their penchant for delivering tasteful items, it is of no surprise that the end result is of the same nature. 3 different frames were utilized here with each seeing two colors: a black and a light brown with matching lenses. This collection will be hitting retailers in January of next year.

Oliver Peoples and TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloIst continue to work together, offering a new take on their Flip Up style glasses. The unique convertible look is very recognizable (to those who know) as Takahiro’s handywork, and, following a light tortoise take, the all-black model may prove to be an easier wear for some. NOWNESS presents Devendra Banhart in a new short film by Lisa Eisner for Oliver Peoples.

“Get in the bathtub! Be together!” Those were the orders given to Devendra Banhart and his girlfriend Rebecca Schwartz for today’s exclusive film, the director’s cut of a new campaign for eyewear company Oliver Peoples [...] In homage to French New Wave classics like Godard’s Une Femme Mariée, Eisner was determined to cast a real-life couple with genuine chemistry, to create “infatuated cant-keep-your-hands-off-each-other moments.” Psych-folk polyglot Banhart and his set designer paramour happily obliged, their liaison unfolding on staircases and shag carpets in the Rainbow House, architect John Lautner’s 1961 Los Angeles masterpiece.

Dr. Romanelli x Oliver Peoples “Dr. Goodfellow” Sculpture

Dr. Romanelli x Oliver Peoples "Dr. Goodfellow" Sculpture

In an interesting collaboration, Dr. Romanelli has gotten together with retailer Hostem from London and Oliver Peoples to reveal the Dr. Goodfellow sculpture.

“With the help of London’s newest menswear bastion Hostem, proprietor James Brown and prestigious eyewear brand Oliver Peoples, The Doctor Romanelli brand unveils its newest creation: Dr. Goodfellow.

Darren Romanelli (DRx) is a pioneer of aesthetic innovation, renowned for reviving cultural classics by twisting the familiar into the fresh. He applies a unique signature blending of past and present to each new creation with passion, dedication, commitment and, most importantly, personal connection. His latest project fuses elements of the Victorian era with the fantastic mythological characters from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

“Dr. Goodfellow is inspired by Robin Goodfellow: the mythic sprite known to many story tellers as ‘Puck’. He hides in the shadows, helping and healing, everything from broken bones to bruised souls. He is a playful and unpredictable character, who is as mischievous as he is medicinal,” explains Romanelli. Like all of his projects, Dr. Goodfellow embodies the infectious enthusiasm that conceived it.

With an edition size of just 10 pieces, the statuettes are truly rare collectibles. Exquisite features lend the figurines a sense of detail rarely found in bronze art of this scale, including scissors, stethoscope and a custom jewelry-quality monocle with chain produced by Oliver Peoples.”

Dr. Goodfellow will be available in select stores November 2010.

Many detailed images follow after the jump.

Balmain x Oliver Peoples 2010 Sunglasses

Balmain is one of the brands that is being most talked about lately. Their new mens collection is looking good as well and here we present you now their collaboration with eyewear brand Oliver Peoples.

“Consistent with the 2010 Balmain collections, the bold, unisex styles reflect sleek, contemporary design elements and feature exaggerated teardrop lenses in a comfortable, face-fitting wrap. The Balmain I is a rock-n-roll-inspired, mixed-media style crafted with a smooth metal top bar fastened by four screws against the acetate-enclosed lenses to provide the illusion of a frame front. The temples include a flexible hinge that allows for greater bendable movement. This version will be available in solid black and a black/silver combination. The Balmain II is an inventive interpretation of the classic double-bridge aviator. The pronounced, slightly thicker top bar creates a more distinctive look, while retaining the signature styling. Available in gold or silver, this version is available in two sizes and flatters most faces. “

The sunglasses will release April/May 2010 in stores around the globe.

Another look at the Balmain x Oliver Peoples sunglasses follow after the jump.
