Ontisuka Tiger has once again collaborated with Koi Klub, headed by Yoske Nishiumi. In this 4th collaboration the ‘purposefully’ meaning of the word Koi was the main point of inspiration. Koi Klub chose to work on the X Caliber running sneaker and added some rather unususla material mixes to the sneaker. Washed denim uppers are mixed with premium leather and shiny two-tone laces. The two colorways of the sneaker are releasing this week around the globe in limited quantities.

Onitsuka Tiger presents a nice behind the scenes video of their production process of the “Nippon Made” Collection, a high end collection, that is being produced in Japan. Enjoy!

Berlin label Reality Studio aligns with Onitsuka Tiger, giving the Fabre Light RS a Native American update. Available in cream or grey suede, the sneaker is adorned with an abundance of tassels. A gold Reality Studio button on the top lace hole completes the look. The cream are available January 2011, while the grey will be released in May 2011. Seen at the Asics Friends & Family event in Berlin.

For Fall 2011, Onitsuka Tiger presents a series of premium “Made in Kobe Leather” sneakers. Several of their more popular models are upgraded in fairly tonal leather make ups, each with animal print linings. Not too shabby.. Seen at Bread & Butter.

Onitsuka Tiger has commissioned award winning illustrator Sam Gilbey to create a Manga animation which captures the heritage of Onitsuka Tiger and the inspiration behind the niche California ’78 collection. “The video tells the tongue-in-cheek story of our (fictional) hero Hiroshi and his crazy day in California during which he inadvertently invents some of the other great Eastern exports to the Western World.” Enjoy.

United Arrows‘ latest collaborative project involves footwear label Onitsuka Tiger and their Monte Pokhara boot. Certainly not for everyone, the lightweight shoe was originally produced as an “after boot” for wearing around town after a day of hiking (the name Pokhara comes from a town in the Himalyas.) United Arrows chose two custom colors – dark brown and black – and worked with a suede upper and plaid flannel lining. Available early August at UA doors.

As part of their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection, Onitsuka Tiger presents the “Aisen” capsule collection, consisting of sneakers, accessories, as well as clothing.

“The exclusive AISEN range is named after two Japanese words meaning ‘indigo’ and ‘dye’. AISEN products combine contemporary style with a traditional Japanese manufacturing process. Natural materials are dip-dyed by hand in pigment from indigo flowers to create soothing blue shades, and enhanced with cutting-edge technical details.

Combining this traditional Japanese indigo dyeing technique with new contemporary designs results in a unique modern collection of Japanese footwear, tops and backpacks.

The footwear focuses on natural comfort and includes the OKATABI range, inspired by the famed tabi, a traditional Japanese shoe that is still widely worn today.”

Onitsuka Tiger got together with one of the pioneer sneaker boutiques in Amsterdam – SEVENTYFIVE. The brand collaborated with the store on the Lay-Up 72. The design was kept simple and to the point, with the sneaker featuring a clean white nylon upper with tonal branding and blue accents.
