The History Of The Saatchi Gallery

history saatchigallery book front The History Of The Saatchi Gallery

Founded by Charles Saatchi in 1995, the Saatchi Gallery has presented an ever evolving take on contemporary art since its inception. It has also moved twice and is recognized as for changing the way new works are perceived both by the public and within the art world. A true celebration of the gallery, The History of the Saatchi Gallery, is at once a collectible (with a rather stiff price tag) and a collection of writings from a handful of influential critics.

Among those folks are Richard Cork and Bryan Sewell. Their essays are accompanied by photographs of Saatchi installations, highlighting the work of Hirst, Warhol and Stella (among others). The book is limited in print to 950 copies. Each of those signed by Mr. Saatchi. Published by Opus, The History of the Saatchi Gallery will retail for $3,650.

A few selections from the pages of The History of the Saatchi Gallery after the jump.
