Here is a good one – Planet Streetpainting from Holland created a 3D terracota LEGO army of soldiers for the Sarasota Chalk Festival. For the 3D Pavement Art segment for the festival, “Dutch collective ‘Planet Streetpainting’ stole the show with their witty piece, the ’3D Lego Army’. Inspired by China’s Terracotta Army, the team replaced the soldiers with several iconic Lego designs, working their trademark 3D magic to breathtaking effect.”

The outcome is definitely stunning and makes for a cool effect. Check out the process for this piece after the jump.

We have announced the exhibition a couple of weeks ago and now that is has opened we can finally give you a look at some of the stand-out pieces. The much anticipated Takashi Murakami x Kanye West bear sculpture comes in a series of metals and also a painted colorway. But the sculpture is only one of many nice pieces to be featured in the exhibition, which is currently going on at the Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery in Paris. Kanye West also attended the opening of the exhibition.

With a collection of 25 new works entitled “The Blue Paintings,” Damien Hirst will become only the second living artist to have a solo show at the museum. Quite a feat. The show begins October 14th, 2009 and runs until January 24th, 2010. Rather pricey though. Prices for receptions with a private view of the Hirst exhibition start at £8,000 + VAT.

“Working together in a military theme, the pair has each created a passionate body of work meditating on the culture of war from uniquely different angles. Inspired by his love of vintage military garments, Romanelli has taken a wide range of iconic uniform pieces from several countries and reimagined them as high-end luxury apparel far removed from their original utilitarian purposes. Meanwhile, painter Andrew Brandou has created a new series of works reinvisioning the world of legendary wildlife artist John James Audobon as populated by a new breed of fashion-conscious and heavily armed animals.” Via Supertouch.
The pieces created by Dr. Romanelli in this collection are simply stunning, as they are not only superior quality, but each piece also tells a story. That mixed with the artwork of Andrew Brandou makes an exciting exhibition that you should not miss.
Takashi Murakami, an artist that we have followed and admired for quite some time now, has recently opened his most comprehensive and complete exhibition to date at the MOCA in Los Angeles. The exhibition his showing works from the early days up until now and has a vibrant mix of paintings and sculptures. Now have a look after the jump at one of moderns art most influential artists and enjoy.
