Kanye Wests Paris Fashion Week Show Confirmed Kanye West to Return to Paris Fashion Week
It has been confirmed that Kanye West will bring his second women’s collection to Paris Fashion Week. The rapper-turned-designer will show his eponymous collection at 9:30 pm on March 6, 2012. Mr. West’s debut showing last season drew a star-studded crowd but gathered mixed reviews. Will all those famous designers and celebrities show up again this round?

The Paris mens fashion shows are in full effect this week and as with last season, we’re cruising outside some of the bigger high fashion shows to give you a glimpse of today’s Parisian street style.

Yesterday celebrated designer Rick Owens presented his Fall/Winter 2012 collection, and we snapped a few photos of the attendees. Some rocked the full Rick Owens kits while others worked their own looks, such as the above Prada brogues and camo pants look. Both men and women are represented over a wide range of styles. All interesting to see.

Kanye West Spring/Summer 2012 Presentation – A Review

Kanye West Spring/Summer 2012 Presentation - A Review

Over the weekend we reported on the first womenswear collection by Kanye West, shown during Paris Fashion Week. While celebrities and fashion designers of the highest caliber were sitting in on the show, a couple of days later the reviews are mixed. We cannot say that we are surprised. Richard Bridgman of Materialiste attended the show and produced a review for Highsnobiety here below.

It was the most eagerly anticipated event of Paris Fashion Week for the Spring Summer 2012 ready-to-wear shows. Journalists, bloggers and hype-lovers everywhere spent a great deal of time and energy speculating as to what Kanye West’s first ever womenswear effort could possibly look like. The answer came all too quickly tonight as fashion’s favorite rapper unveiled the enigmatic « DW ».

West’s team made the unusual venue choice of Lycée Henri IV, a private college in the famous Latin Quarter, thus setting the tone for a relatively sober, almost scholarly collection. So keen was West to please after his failed ‘Pastelle’ line that he seemed to edge too far on the side of caution. There were no bold Givenchy-inspired prints, no futuristic, avant-garde designs. Not a hint of bling on the horizon.

The runway itself could not have been more minimalist: a white box bathed in violet light. Such sleek chic is a far cry from some of West’s own wardrobe choices, further widening the distance between the man as musician and the man as designer. Even the soundtrack was fairly tame, ranging from classic Lauryn Hill to mainstream rap.

adidas Originals x Jeremy Scott Spring/Summer 2012 Paris Showroom Visit

This week Jeremy Scott was hosting a showroom in Paris during Paris Fashion Week to show his new adidas Originals by Originals Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. Of course we passed by to chat with the designer and to have a look at the upcoming collection. Do not expect things to calm down at all – things stay colorful and crazy, just the way his fans like it.

Here it is – The Kanye West Spring 2012 Collection

Here it is - The Kanye West Spring 2012 Collection

About 30 minutes ago the first official Kanye West Fashion Show ended, being part of the official Paris Fashion Week schedule. Lots of rumors were circling around for months about the existence of the line, who West was working with for the collection and how it will actually look like.

The first surprise to many was the news, that it would be a women’s collection. As such, we will also leave a judgement of the looks to the pros. All we can say at this point, is that the amount of ‘important’ people from the fashion and entertainment industries that showed up to see the fashion show was rather impressive. From Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Terry Richardson, Lindsay Lohan, the Olsen twins, Jessica Michault, Dsquared 2 designers Dean and Dan and the list just goes on. All major fashion magazine editors (Vogue, The Love Magazine, Vogue Homme, etc) were also attending the show. Among the models you could find Chanel Iman and all shoes of the show were designed and produced by Guiseppe Zanotti, which is another impressive move by Kanye. We all know that the high fashion crowd will be a hard one to please, especially from an outsider.

We will not even try to judge Kanye’s attempt at fashion design and will leave you with these images to make up your own mind. We do respect though, that he gave it a shot and cannot wait to see what the next step in Kanye’s fashion career will be.

Many more images from the Kanye West Spring 2012 Womenswear Collection follow after the jump.

Paris Fashion Week Street Style – Outside Dior and Martin Margiela

We continue our street style report from Paris Fashion Week, after having reported from Rick Owens yesterday. Today the Dior and Martin Margiela shows went down and as you can imagine these are two of the most important shows on schedule. As such a massive crowd of people showed up for the two shows, resulting in the Parisian police having some trouble getting organized.

From Carine Roitfeld and Olivier Zahm, to up and coming French actress Roxanne Mesquida, and the who is who of magazine editors, everybody was there. The style range of people was really wide, with everything from Givenchy Spring/Summer ‘12 to Supreme and Louboutin on view.
