Last week we revealed the first artist that Patta worked for their special sweater project “3 the Hard Way, Triple Threat, Patta Reworked”. It’s time to reveal the second artist in this project, next up is Eric Elms.
Eric Elms is a New York based artist and designer. He started working as head designer at Supreme when he was 21 and has gone on to work for companies such as Nike, Panasonic, Wieden+Kennedy, HUGE Magazine, Stussy, OBEY, Ssur, aNYthing, among others. As an artist he has had solo exhibitions and has contributed to shows in NYC, Japan, Australia and all across Europe. He currently runs a studio in Brooklyn, NY where he hopes to continue to produce work that makes people smile and think.
Eric created two designs for this project: the “Patta Gang” and the “Line Stack”.
The Patta x Eric Elms sweaters all feature heavy duty fleece, thermal linings, underarm ventilation eyelets, side slit pockets and will be available in-store only at Patta on Saturday December 1st and Alife Rivington Club (New York) (date TBA). Be on the lookout for the final artist to be announced next week!

Just last week we introduced the Patta “3 The Hard Way, Triple Threat, Patta Reworked” project with some logo pieces out of their Fall/Winter 2007 collection.
To set off their special sweater project “3 the Hard Way, Triple Threat, Patta Reworked” in an official manner, they reveal their first artist, the wonderboy Piet Parra. Parra designed the very first Patta logo, as well as the Patta Script Logo, so it was only logic to ask him for this project since he is obviously one of their favorite artists.
The mostly self-taught illustrator/designer/artist channels a vintage form with curves, yet with a decidedly modern, post-pop approach. His vibrant and often humorous images, which feature a distinctive, hand-drawn feel, can be seen printed on paper in various exhibitions around the globe, on a flyer for a club near you, on the sleeve of a record, on billboards and silkscreened on tees and sweaters. Parra is represented by the London based agency Big Active (www.bigactive.com) and is co owner of the new wave clothing label Rockwell (www.rockwellclothing.com).
Parra made two designs for this project, the Parra Typo and the Lady Shoe.
The Patta x Parra sweaters all feature heavy duty fleece, thermal linings, underarm ventilation eyelets, side slit pockets and will be available in-store only at Patta on Saturday November 24th and Alife Rivington Club (New York) (date TBA). Be on the lookout for the next artist to be announced next week!
After the jump more detailed pictures of the Patta x Parra pieces.

Patta proudly presents the “3 the Hard Way, Triple Threat, Patta Reworked” project. A special collaboration between Patta and three different progressive and internationally accepted artists. The artists have been chosen by Patta because of their creative talents and distinct styles, obviously some of Patta’s favourite designers. The artists are pioneers and trendsetters, basically artists who know how to keep it fresh in this oversaturated world of design and streetwear. They all think and work outside of the box and are not limited to the rules of graphic design. The artists have each been commissioned to rework variations of the Patta brand name.
The special Patta Winter series, resulted in a collection of six different crewneck sweaters, two designs from each artist. All designs are printed on CYC Quality sweaters and the collection will be extremely limited. Every week they will be revealing one of the artists and the designs they’ve created for this project, accompanied by a mini interview. By the end of every week the sweaters will be released at Patta (Amsterdam) and Alife Rivington Club (New York).
To kick off and celebrate this special project they also produced a very limited series of sweaters with their beloved script logo created by Parra in three different colourways. This series we are presenting you here today.
The Patta logo sweaters all feature heavy duty fleece, thermal linings, underarm ventilation eyelets, side slit pockets and will be available in-store only at Patta on Saturday November 17th.

It certainly seems like Asics is slowly fighting it’s way back into the sneaker scene. We have seen this year a collaboration with Patta and now this week a new collaboration with Alife NYC. Both partners are probably the most significant influencers in the sneaker business on their respective continents. The Asics Gel Lyte III was used for both collaborations and it seems like we will be seeing a lot more of that sneaker in the near future.
Patta has received some new colorways of the Asics Gel Lyte III and we like them. There is a black/storm colorway and a white/pastel turquoise colorway, both looking really hot. Good color combination, without going over board. It will be interesting to see over the next year or so, if Asics can use their current momentum and build on it.

Another nice series of decks that we recently came across. Amsterdam based stores Patta and Ben G got together with Rockwell Clothing, the clothing line of artist Parra, to drop a series of skateboard decks. The art on the decks comes from Parra of course. Expect these to be available at both stores some time next week! Via Ben G.

A couple of weeks ago we presented you the G-Shock Conre Magazine displaying Neil Santos modeling the new limited edition G-Shock collection. Neal Santos was born and raised in New York City. Having grown up between Washington Heights and the South Bronx he was exposed to some of the world’s most culturally diverse areas throughout his youth. As a freelance designer he is working on several Supreme co-branded products, one which, an Oakley-Supreme collection was released this spring. Since a while Neil Santos was now working on the Teamworks Clothing line and the first t-shirts have now been released at Patta.

Niels Meulmans initial recognition came as Shoe within local and international graffiti culture. This evolved into a business for decorative lettering when he was 18. Eager to learn more, he became apprentice to Dutch graphic design master Anthon Beeke to learn the trade. Throughout the nineties he ran his own design company Caulfield & Tensing, before joining BBDO as senior art director. In recent years he has been working under the name Unruly, a flexible creative outfit that specializes in typographic design. Meulmans designs and artwork are part of the permanent collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the San Francisco MOMA. Other essential works include a signature shoe design for sports brand Umbro, logo and corporate identity for Dutch television channel Talpa and the Unruly Accessories silk scarf series. Now it is time for Meulman to use all his fields of expertise and to go back to the essence; the art of writing, or Calligraffiti as he calls it. Thursday September 13th 2007 will see the opening of a large solo exhibition (to be held at the BG venue in Amsterdam) of new art by Niels Shoe Meulman. An ancient story about a king and a calligrapher is the starting point for this show, which features a large variety of works on paper, a Calligraffiti booklet, special guest artist and good friend Eric Haze (who will also be exhibiting his recent works) and limited edition Patta x Shoe x Haze t-shirts. Patta also produced a series of indepth interviews about the legend Shoe, covering his whole career from the graffiti days, his design career, the advertising work and his passion for Calligraffiti. in addition, they conducted mini interviews with friends and colleagues like Bando, Haze and Rammellzee.

The Patta x New Era cap that was supposed to come out with their Asics collaboration never quite made it at the time and has just dropped yesterday. Not too long ago State Mag from Amsterdam brought out together with Patta and Nike the Air Max 90 Homegrown. At the time it came in all grass green with an orange inner lining. This is now the hyperstrike version of the Homegrown Air Max 90s from Amsterdam’s State Magazine. It comes in the exact same colors, just flipped. Orange upper with crackle application and grass green inner lining. We are not sure which one we like better – they both look great. Also this one features just like the first one the cork inner sole. Pics via Freshness.
