The Selectism gents bring good news from the land of Penfield / Rag & Bone.

For Holiday 2010, they work together on a special make-up based on Penfield’s Rockford silhouette. “The Penfield for rag & bone Mallory down jacket comes in two colorways, with updated fabrication and subtle design details created to complement and combine both brands’ distinctive, rugged aesthetic. The Mallory is available in black thornproof wool with a contrast corduroy shoulder yoke in black and in deep khaki with a dark olive corduroy shoulder yoke. Both jackets feature brown plaid interior lining, two traditionally shaped front chest pockets, two lower welt pockets and custom co-branding on the inside.”

Derived Thread and SHOT BY JFK present a little preview of the FW10 Penfield collection.

In an interesting collaboration Garbstore has linked up with Penfield. Rather than using the standard Penfield vest as a base, like most others do, they developed a new silhouette – the 1930s Life Preserver Vest. The name says it all. The down vest comes in black with nice leather details on the zippers and an added toggle closure. The vest is now available from Flatspot.

As part of their respective Fall/Winter 2010 Collections, Boston boutique Bodega and Penfield have collaborated on the popular Kasson jacket.

“Serving as the centerpiece of Bodega’s Autumn / Winter 2010 Collection is a special make up of the Penfield Kasson Parka. Retooled for the harsh New England winters, the Bodega Edition Kasson Parka features a thick wool body, Hudson waxed canvas upper and brushed flannel lining. Various details are hidden through the piece, most notable the thermometer zipper pull. Styled for Town and Country applications, the piece has been limited to 100 pieces aill be available Saturday October 23at Bodega as well as SNS in Sweden, and Uptown Deluxe in Japan.

Both Bodega and Penfield were founded in Massachusetts. Following Bodega’s recent Vans project, as well as Penfield’s work with Gitman Bros & Stussy , the vanguard of American style is further unified with these collaborations.”

Stussy worked with the ever impressive Penfield on a range of exclusive N3B and Walkabout down jackets. Outfitted with a range of Stussy details and various contrast color accents, these jackets are an all-around good move for the winter. Releasing October 30, 2010.

For their Fall/Winter 2010 Collection, Penfield has worked with Gitman Brothers on a couple of shirts.

“The Gitman Bros. for Penfield collaboration marks the first time we, as classic heritage brands, have worked together, resulting in two authentic “Made in the USA” styles.

Consisting of the Woburn, a 100% cotton blue Oxford shirt, and the Flitton, a rose flannel style, the collaboration meshes Penfield’s traditional durability and practicality with the master construction and fine materials for which Gitman Bros. is known.

Classic Americana references are used throughout, from the traditional chalk buttons that reference Gitman Bros. shirts from the late 1970’s to the Flitton flannel pulled directly from Gitman’s Winter 1982 collection. Both styles feature an 8-button front closure with a contrast split plaquette and a left chest pocket. The shirts are garment washed for a superior feel and fit.”

The shirts are now available through the Penfield online store and select retailers.

Celebrating their 35th anniversary this year, Penfield presents their new Fall/Winter 2010 Collection with the “A Longmeadow Morning” Lookbook. The lookbook highlights the outdoor heritage of the brand and some of the strong pieces in the upcoming collection. The drive to bring solid outerwear at reasonable prices has given the brand an honest and quality image, that still stands strong today.

Penfield showed an excellent selection of backpacks, messenger bags and totes and rucksacks at Bread & Butter Berlin. For Spring/Summer 2011, the Massachusetts-founded label makes good use of heavyweight canvas with leather accents and attractive branding.
