Today we get a first look at the collaboration between Pharrell Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club and Mark McNairy from New York. Of course McNairy was heavily inspired by vintage Americana and presents a nice capsule collection in collaboration with the streetwear brand with a few very strong signature pieces.

“The line of luxury gear was born out of a conversation Williams and McNairy had over a possible boot collaboration that turned into a full capsule collection. Even the collection’s name, Bee Line, has noble ties as Williams was inspired by Napoleon’s decision to replace fleur-de-lis with the insect as France’s royal symbol. Most categories of menswear are covered in the assortment, from outerwear to boots, and all of the gear is made in the USA save for the sweaters woven in Scottish mills.”

Pharrell still surprises us and aside from producing music, continues to satisfy his creative inner beast with other interesting projects. The latest one you see here below – he produced the music to the new Lanvin Spring/Summer 2012 Ad Campaign. The imagery and video was produced by Steven Meisel. Lanvin once again surprises with an interesting and unexpected ad campaign this season.

Music: 18 year old Bronx, NY-born artist Maxine Ashley first caught the attention of super-producer Pharrell Williams on YouTube. Immediately impressed with her signature sound, soulful vocals with an edgy pop attitude, he signed her to his record label, i am OTHER entertainment. “Cookieman,” written and produced by Pharrell, is the first single off of Maxine’s upcoming debut album.”

Recently GQ passed by Pharrell’s studio in Miami and sat down with the musician to talk about his upcoming projects – being a consultant for the Oscars, working with shoe designer Mark McNairy, releasing his book ‘Places & Spaces I’ve Been’. They also touch on the upcoming Billionaire Girls Club line and him working on ‘Glory’, the song that Jay-Z dedicated to his daughter.

“GQ: On Rick Ross’ Rich Forever mixtape you rap, “Black boy scoring his life/ I’m scoring the Oscars.” How excited are you for this opportunity—especially since you’re still essentially a music nerd from Virginia who made it big.
Pharrell: I’m just very thankful. And I say that a lot because that’s the most important message. I answer questions the best I can. But most of the answers usually feel the same. And that’s just me being very appreciative of the opportunity, because, like you said, I’m from Virginia Beach, VA. I’m glad that I can exhibit what we can do.

GQ: Academy rules won’t allow you to say what your current favorites are, but what are some of your choice Hans Zimmer-scored movies? He’s done plenty and won an Oscar for The Lion King.
Pharrell: The Dark Knight music was genius! I mean, Gladiator was great. Pirates [of the Caribbean] was great. But Dark Knight? That was, like, a whole different level of…

GQ: Film music?
Pharrell: Yeah!

GQ: Tell me about your upcoming travel book, Places & Spaces I’ve Been.
Pharrell: It’s just things and people that have moved me and inspired me around the world and that I am also honored to know.

GQ: You’re working on a new line of boots, right?
Pharrell: Yeah. We’re working on some boots for BBC [Billionaire Boys Club]. But I can’t really talk about it.

GQ: Well, speaking of BBC, you’re releasing a women’s line soon, BGC, right?
Pharrell: Yup! And it’s crazy!”

A while ago we announced that Pharrell Williams was about to launch the Billionaire Girls Club line, after having founded the male collection, Billionaire Boys Club, in 2005 together with A Bathing Ape founder NIGO. Before offering a full season collection, they are releasing a few t-shirts and vests, which will be exclusively stocked in the BBC online store and at select retailers around the globe.

For now nothing exciting, but we are definitely looking forward to check out the actual full collection.

Dazed & Confused teams up with photographer Rankin for the 20 + 20 Covers Projects, in celebration of their 20th anniversary. Chloe Sevigny, Kate Moss and Pharrell Williams are only two cover stars out of the 20.

“The series of 20 covers have been shot for the upcoming December issue, featuring portraits of 20 iconic cover stars from Dazed’s past, including Kate Moss, Pharrell Williams, Chloe Sevigny, Eva Green and Jarvis Cocker. Each unique cover has a gatefold pull out, which features 20 rising stars chosen by each celebrity, as a portrait of pop culture heroes of the future. Each issue also includes a series of interviews where Dazed speaks to the legendary names featured, including PJ Harvey, Damien Hirst, Bjork, and Pharrell Williams, alongside with new young stars such as Little Dragon, Jamie Woon, S.C.U.M, and Josephine de la Baume.”

Qream is an alcoholic drink created by Pharrell Williams in cooperation with liquor company Diageo. Created for women, Qream is a first of its kind vodka-based cream liqueur.

This week a first promotional video for the drink has released, with Pharrell cruising on a boat and handing the bottles to fellow captains. We are not sure what to really think of the drink and of the campaign, but maybe this is one of those partnerships that the artist should have skipped.

At least you get to listen to a new tune from the musician in the video. Check it out!

As usual Pharrell Williams is keeping himself busy these days. In a recent chat with WWD, he announces a couple of interesting new projects that we will see unfold over the coming months.

Next to launching a proper Billionaire Girls Club collection for women, he is working in a shoe collection with New York designer Mark McNairy, which will release February 2012. Furthermore he is working with Ambra Medda, co-founder and director of Design Miami and Design Miami/Basel, on a book going by the title “Places & Spaces I’ve Been.”

We will of course keep you posted on the outcome of these projects.

Fashion Night Out 2011 once again brought out the masses to many events all over the city of New York. Billionaire Boys Club also hosted an event, and presents their Bape collaboration t-shirts on FNO. This time BBC also had something waiting for the girls and presented a series of special t-shirts on the last floor of the store.

Next to Pharrell Williams, other familiar faces that showed up included Tyler The Creator, Kid Cudi, Nigel Sylvester, Dee & Ricky, and others.

Today Palladium boots has released their new ‘Tokyo Rising’ campaign, featuring Pharrell Williams. The campaign documents Pharrell as he explores the city’s hidden treasures, interviews locals and uncovers an inspiring resiliency in Tokyo, Japan in the aftermath of the events of 3/11.

When it was announced a while ago, that NIGO had sold A Bathing Ape to I.T. from Hong Kong, a question that right away came up in our mind was ‘What Will Happen To Billionaire Boys Club?’, the brand founded by NIGO and Pharrell Williams.

Well, today we get the answer. Jay-Z has purchased the exclusive licensing rights to produce and distribute Billionaire Boys Club. The label will be managed under the Rocawear umbrella and Jay-Z will keep Pharrell on board as creative director. Let’s see what will happen to the brand under this new reign. We will of course keep you posted. (GQ)

Update: It looks like Jay-Z did not actually buy the brand, but is simply partnering up with them in the future. More info as it becomes available.

Pharrell Williams designed a glass sculpture to be exhibited as part of the GLASSTRESS show during the Venice Biennale, starting this week.

““Inside Out” is located at the Berengo Centre for Contemporary Art and Glass in Murano. The sculpture is of 2 angel skeletons. One is just over 6 feet tall and the smaller one flying behind it is about 18 inches. Both were hand made by Berengo Studio in Murano.”

The much anticipated “Velo” bike by Pharrell Williams for Domeau & Pérès has been released today. 26 colors, each limited to only 1.

“The idea came in 2009 after a visit to the Brooklyn Machine Works shop by Pharrell, Bruno Domeau & Philippe Pérès : the bicycle’s frame and fork are hand made out at the Brooklyn Machine workshop of 4130 chromemoly seamless airplane grade steel tubing.

After that, the bike is shipped to Domeau & Pérès in Paris where it’s upholstered in fine leather of water buffalo. All the stitching work is handmade : it takes them over 100 man hours.

Bikes are available in a variety of 26 colors, but each color is an edition of one and once purchased that color choice will no longer be available.”

You can order yours today from colette (storeguide) at eshop@colette.fr, and 8 weeks later the bike arrives. Unfortunately the bike has a 20′000 Euro price tag.
