During CES Polaroid announced the Polaroid SC1630, an Android powered smart camera which features a high definition 16 megapixel camera with built in 3X optical zoom, touch screen display and Wi-Fi, making uploads to social networks as easy as the touch of a button. The idea with the Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera is that you will no longer need to choose between your smart phone and your point and shoot .. except that the SC1630 doesn’t make phone calls. That said: the compact, connected device is a solid option for those who want to share quality images quickly. Available later this year.

Today Polaroid has launched their new Z340 Instant Digital Camera. While featuring a 14 megapixel processor and LCD display, the camera also comes with an integrated printer.

“Unlike any other camera available today, the Polaroid Z340 pays homage to its analog predecessors, yet contains an advanced, easy-to-use digital feature set. Designed for portability, the Z340 combines a 14.0 megapixel digital camera with a ZINK-enabled printer using the ink-free Zero Ink Printing Technology from ZINK Imaging to deliver a 3×4” print – the same size as the classic Polaroid photos that captured millions of special memories over the past 63 years. The Polaroid Z340 camera gives you even more options for instant printing: choose the iconic Polaroid Classic Border Logo or full bleed and contemporary 3×4” photos.”

Priced at 299 USD, the camera is now available here.

A Polaroid SX-70 reissue has hit the wires today. This release “isn’t a modern remake of this classic — it is the classic, painstakingly restored so it works perfectly — especially with Impossible Project film — folds flat, and looks great even when it’s just sitting around. Instagram’s got nothing on this.” (uncrate)

Sixpack France presents a new collaborative collection with artist Joe Misrelli and Polaroid. The line consists of three pop-abstract polaroids printed on two white tee shirts and a black one.

“The photos are all taken with a modified polaroid pro-pack to take extreme close-ups. Each print consists of multiple exposures taken of shapes and textures laid on top of each other to form a surreal landscape.

The concept stems from psychedelic LP art and musicians like Santana, Pink Floyd etc. but just as importantly people like Carl Sagan, Neil Degrasse Tyson and Buckminster Fuller. These dudes were the real deal. They brought deep scientific and utopian ideas to the general public. Their work is what inspired much of the art of the 60s and 70s and the images their work conjure-up, in my head, are what I wanted to depict in these polaroids.”

574 Clips is a collection constructed from leftover materials salvaged from New Balance’s factory in Lawrence, MA. The 574 has been re-engineered, removing unnecessary foams in the tongue and collar to reduce heat and bulk. It also features a PU insert for comfort and a microdenier lining taken from the 993 to create a luxurious feel. Overall the shoe comes in four colorways: grey/blue, grey/green, grey/orange and grey/burgundy. Limited to 120 pairs per color.

The collection name, 574 Clips also has a second meaning: a launch campaign will be centered around 574Clips.com, a website that features 480 video clips (1 for each shoe) created to convey each of the shoes’ unique experience before reaching the consumer. To compliment the short films, an individually numbered Polaroid photo has been taken of the shoe’s experience and placed in the corresponding shoe box.

Available September 2009 at the following retailers: Reed Space in NYC, Shoe Gallery in Miami, Bodega in Boston, Commonwealth in DC, Premium Goods in Houston, St. Alfreds in Chicago, Burn Rubber in Royal Oak, Sole Boutique in San Antonio, Goods in Seattle, and Undefeated in LA.

More looks at the New Balance 574 Clips Collection after the jump.

This year, Urban Outfitters proudly presents a limited edition of 700 hand-numbered deadstock Polaroid camera kits. This exclusive Urban Outfitters special edition will include one pack of deadstock Polaroid Instant Film and one of the most sought after analog instant cameras: the Polaroid One600 classic, the last Polaroid camera ever produced. Urban Outfitters worked with The Impossible Project on the kit, who recently purchased all of the dead stock, plus all the machinery and equipment at Polaroid’s Netherlands factory before it closed. Together they two hope to bring back new analog instant film for Polaroid cameras in 2010.

Along with the kits, Urban Outfitters will offer additional deadstock original Polaroid Type 779 Instant Film saved from the last production runs made at the last Polaroid factory in Enschede, Netherlands. The film has been hand-selected, tested, and stored at low temperatures exclusively for Urban Outfitters.

In conjunction with the release of the special edition Polaroid film and camera kits, Gallery space at space 15 Twenty in los Angeles is hosting a month-long group show of Polaroid photography. The original Polaroid instant photographs on view in Everything is Possible will reflect the unlimited possibilities of working with this unique format.

A full list of the participating artists in the exhibition follows after the jump.
