“Shaft”by Doze Green And David Ellis

Shaft by Doze Green and David Ellis“Shaft” by Doze Green & David Ellis – Two of the most influential graffiti turned fine artists active today, New York City residents Doze Green and David Ellis fuse the true meaning of hip-hop with contemporary art styles to create a hybrid of visual sounds that are truly unique and original. In their collaborative book and project, Shaft, each artist takes their trademark styles and characters and interconnects both elements on a site-specific project upon an elevator shaft. The results epitomize the roots of hip-hop and both artists reflect the 21st century urban landscape. The 128-page book comes with a pull-out poster that captures the entirety of the shaft project. Shaft is being released in conjunction with the Rubicon Sun exhibition from Doze Green and David Ellis at FIFTY24SF Gallery this December.

Just after presenting you last week the big JB Classics x DC Shoes collaboration, we present you today another big collaboration project by the independent sneaker brand. Three years in the making, we show you today the outcome of the JB Classics x DJ Funkmaster Flex x Ford collaboration. The project consists of two sneakers, one made with each partner in this three-way project.

The JB Classics x DJ Funkmaster Flex Getlo comes with a true-blue nubuck toe box and heel panels, white full grain toe vamp and perforation details. The inner leather skin lining features the “FMF” logo print in accent colors to match the outer sole. The shoe is packaged with two sets of laces, is individually numbered and comes with a Certificate of Ownership and cinch bag. Limited to 240 pairs worldwide, shops that will carry the sneaker include Deep Store (Paris), Overkill (Berlin), Garage (Switzerland), Qubic (New Zealand) and Moe’s Sneaker Boutique (NYC), with more coming.

The JB Classics x Ford Getlo comes with an equal amount of details. Most of the shoe is covered in the trademark blue of the car brand and the tongue features a large embossed Ford logo. The inner lining matches the outer sole and the red accents give a nice contrast. Packaged with two sets of laces, Certificate of Ownership and cinch bag, this model was exclusively developed for Ford Motors and it looks like it will not be going on sale.

A very impressive project by JB Classics. In a marketplace that is mainly ruled by large corporations, the brand manages to stick out with unique projects and collaborations. Look out for the DJ Funkmaster Flex Getlo to go on sale soon.
An online presentation of the entire project you can find here. After the jump many detailed pictures of both sneakers.

DC Artist Project Holiday ‘07 – SSUR

RTEmagicC ssur dc 7.jpg DC Artist Project Holiday 07 SSUR
For Holiday 2007, DC Artist Projects™ is proud to work with New York Artist SSUR, for the second time. The latest limited edition collection is comprised of a shoe, hat, fleece and jeans – the largest collection for the DC Artist Projects™ to date.

The design for the project was inspired by SSUR’s Russian heritage with a New York twist. Drawing colors and detailing from traditional Russian porcelain pieces, SSUR’s Artist Projects™ shoe features floral patterns and nude women around the shoes’ heel panels. The custom designed clear soles feature Coney Island’s famous Ferris wheel on one shoe and SSUR’s pirate ship imagery on the other. The SSUR denim shares the design of the shoes’ soles with the imagery embroidered on the pants back pockets and an embroidered ankle patch. A full zip sweatshirt and New Era cap with embroidered artwork
round out the collection.

The Russian born Ruslan Karablin, better known in the art/design world as SSUR, has been a constant in the NYC downtown art scene for almost 15 years. Growing up in Coney Island NY, SSUR entered the New York scene as an outside artist with no formal training. Three main subjects—sex, politics, and protest—have heavily influenced the SSUR aesthetic.

DC Artist Projects™ first collaborated with SSUR in 2005 with the creation of the SSUR high top shoe offered at three distinct levels. The most limited version, the black/silver shoe, featured actual stingray on the upper panels and has proved to be one of the most sought after shoes from the Artist Projects™ series.
Make sure to check out the accompanying video here below and all the product of the project after the jump.
