Public School Spring/Summer 2010 Collection Lookbook

We take a first look at the Public School Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. After experimenting with color in the past season, the label finds back to their monotone aesthetic next season. The new collection was inspired by Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man. In terms of experimentation with fabrics this marks the most progressive season of the still young label. They worked with lots of leather and once again we are impressed with the innovative cuts offered.

Public School Fall/Winter 2009 Collection

We still remember when we first came cross Public School at the Capsule Show in New York not very long ago. We right away loved the attention to detail and mainly the smart little additions every piece came with. Public School stays true to these characteristics of their brand and presents for Fall/Winter 2009 once again a great collection.

The main change is right away apparent – colors. Public School usually only works with white, black and grey tones and for next season they have infused some bright red into the collection. The looks are still very sharp and smart and especially the jackets and shirts caught our interest. The shearling coat and nylon down jacket are also fantastic pieces.

The Public School Fall/Winter 2009 collection will be available in finer boutiques and department stores in August. For more information, please visit www.publicschoolnyc.com.

Public School Spring/Summer 2009 Collection

Public School created quite some buzz around their brand a while back when they launched. This week their new Spring/Summer 2009 Collection got into stores and once again the brand impresses with well designed pieces, that especially stand out because of smart details. Hoodies, shirts, jackets, as well as polos and t-shirts are part of the collection and the color palette did not expand – they stick to the black, grey and white that we are used to see from them.

They will also be launching a special range for Urban Outfitters later this year. A preview of that here.

The new Public School Spring/Summer 2009 Collection is now available at Ssense.

Detailed images follow after the jump.

Public School Autumn/Winter 2008 Collection

public school fall winter 2008 collection 1 Public School Autumn/Winter 2008 Collection

Public School, one of the new conspirators in the wave of young designers, introduces their second collection for Autumn/Winter 2008. Created by Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, the Autumn/Winter collection continues to capture the attitude and rebellious spirit of New York. “More of a continuation from Spring (Public School’s introductory collection) than a new concept, Public School’s AW 2008 collection will highlight finding perfection through imperfection and being able to accomplish a lot with just a little,” says Chow. Public School has been known for creating clean imperfections in their designs, providing consumers with added elements such as removable plackets on zip front jackets, convertible collars on woven shirts and detachable fingerless leather gloves on parkas, just to name a few.

Silhouettes primarily focus on outerwear, offering an array of materials such as nylon, wool/leather mixes and thermal. Constructed wool plays a huge part in the collection, offering a cropped wool peacoat, a wool vest with a leather collar and an updated varsity jacket with removable sleeves. There is also an emphasis on trim and hardware: chunky zippers, a progressive use of oversized studs and leather-wrapped d-rings. Foundation colors remain the same – black, white, khaki, heather gray and chalkboard green.

From the very first time that we saw Public School at Capsule NYC, we liked the collection, as it is simple to wear, but not boring and especially the little details that each piece features are very interesting.

The new Public School Autumn/Winter 2008 collection is now available at finer retailers.

Public School – Edgy and Sophisticated

02 August 2007, 17.58 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

RTEmagicC publicschool 2.jpg Public School Edgy and Sophisticated
Last week in NYC the Capsule Tradeshow was also taking place, for the first time actually. They had a great line-up of brands including Pharmacy Industries, CLAE Footwear, No Mas, Wood Wood, Vibskov, Ksubi, Surface 2 Air and many more. The one brand everybody was talking about was a new brand new one – Public School.
Public School is a new menswear collection designed by Dao Yi Chow (owner of Arrive Miami) and Max Osbourne. The collection was inspired by the two men’s upbringing in the NYC public school system. The pieces are both sophisticated, and edgy, and cut from high quality fabrics. Later in the week we had the chance to have a closer look at the collection and we were impressed. Subtle in colors and graphics, rich in choice of materials and cuts. Also overall a very smart collection, with lots of little details that most brands do not think about. The new collection has many jackets, hoodies, shirts, some tees and other pieces that we cannot even describe.
Public School is a newcomer to look out for. They killed it at their first tradeshow, let’s hope they will keep up the high expectations from now on. Check out pictures (taken from We Are The Market) of their first collection after the jump.
