We present the full sneaker offering of designer Raf Simons for Spring/Summer 2012. Next to existing silhouettes, new ones are also being introduced. The collection has a range of subtle premium sneakers, yet also uses some signature colors, including royal blue and orange. From low to mid and high top, there is a sneaker for the simple dresser and also for the more fashionable guy.

For months rumors are coming up on who will take over the prestigious open creative director seat over at Dior, after the unfortunate departure of Galliano. Now Raf Simons seems to be the candidate of choice. According to Vogue, the brand and the designer are just finalizing the contract. It will be interesting to see what will happen with Jil Sander, where he is creative director at the moment. Also the minimalist aesthetic of Raf Simons is quite far away from the Dior look. Who knows what changes the designer might bring to the historic fashion house. Hopefully we know more in the coming weeks.

From the new Raf Simons Fall/Winter 2011 Collection we present the Rivet high top sneaker. Coming in a clean premium white leather, the sneaker features denim rivets placed a bit all-over, without taking the concept too far. Most of the lacing is hidden, yet they added one hiking boot eyelet at the top and smartly added velcro to the tongue, which results in a nice form factor of the sneaker. Oki-Ni has it in stock now.

Earlier today we attended a preview of the Transmission1 exhibition and event curated by none other than fashion designer Raf Simons. The showcase, which currently takes place at the BCC in Berlin, acts as the launch event for the new digital interview magazine by Mercedes Benz, entitled ‘The Avant/Garde Diaries’. The online magazine, which just launched hours ago, features individuals that think out of the box, as well as innovations and extraordinary ideas. Using the video format, ‘avant-garde’ individuals usually go out and introduce the audience to other creative people that have inspired them on their way.

Tranmission1 is essentially a three day festival, where artists and trendsetters present their take on today’s and tomorrow’s world. All artists were hand picked by Raf Simons. The line-up includes Peter Saville, the British art director best known for designing all Joy Division, OMD and New Order covers. In Berlin he showcases his own Mercedes Benz SL 500, built in 1998, with the car playing Joy Division and New Order music. Konstantin Grcic, the industrial designer, created an installation made of chairs, entitled ‘360′. Choreographer and dancer Michael Clark will be performing tonight to David Bowie music. Furthermore a one hour life set will be played by These New Puritans. Artist Peter de Potter created a large scale photographic installation all around the top floor of the BCC building. Further work will be coming from Germaine Kruip, Goose, Begum Sekendiz Bore and Peter Henderson. A highlight for us today was the showcase of the A-Class Showcar Installation, with the car put into a beautiful foggy scenery.

As in previous seasons, the designer reworks existing styles in exotic, premium materials and also introduces several all-new silhouettes, for a bold, luxurious range of footwear. Look for these sneakers at select Raf Simons retailers in the coming months.

Today we can give you a first preview of the upcoming Fred Perry and Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. Both lookbook images and product images are included in the preview, giving you a detailed look at the 7th collection of the two brands.

“For their 7th collaboration the Fred Perry and Raf Simons Spring Summer ‘11 collection goes back to basics, re-working classic Fred Perry pieces by incorporating Simons’ signature minimalist silhouette and styling.

The Fred/Raf hybrid polo shirt is the mainstay of the 38 piece collection. Featuring a traditional shirt stand collar and body darting that creates a slimmer, cleaner silhouette. The key styling detail is the use of Riri zips on select product. Manufactured in Switzerland, made to order and hand-polished the Riri brand has been supplying zips for 100’s of years and adds a ‘couture feel’ to classic Fred Perry fashion sportwear – zips replace the traditional button placket on the polo shirt and are found on side seams of longline, sleeveless pique tunics and slim-fit harrington jackets.

Other key pieces include zip through sweaters, hoodless sleeveless sweaters, skinny fit trousers and shorts.
The 30 leaf Fred Perry laurel originally used in the 1960’s continues to be used exclusively on Fred Perry and Raf Simons collaboration product.”

We take a first detailed look at the range of sneakers from the Raf Simons Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. Next to existing silhouettes, such as the Belt Sneaker and the Parachute Sneaker, the designer also introduces some new styles. The footwear is upgraded with premium exotic leathers and lots of other interesting add-ons and features.

Last week the new exhibition”One Size Fits All” opened its doors in Milan during Fashion Week. Envisioned and organized by former graffiti artist Ivano Atzori aka Dumbo, he brought together some of the world’s most recognized fashion designers and fashion houses to each design a mask for the exhibition. The inspiration of the project comes from Ivano’s days as a graffiti writer. The mask was his main tool to ensure his anonymity. Thus he asked Haider Ackermann, Vivienne Westwood, Missoni, Alessandro Dell’Aqua of N.21, Neil Barrett, Raf Simons, Ennio Capasa, Riccardo Tisci and Bernhald Willhelm to customize and create their own versions of his mask. The opening took place at the Palazo Morando and of course drew in quite the crowd.
