Since its first collection was released last year, the Canadian brand Ransom has become a favorite. Classics are nicely re-interpreted with new materials and functionality. The line stays subtle, but is not boring.
That also seems to be the case with their upcoming Fall ‘08 collection. Matt George gives us a first look at some key pieces, including a nice hunting jacket with matching pants, a quilted shirt and also their first move into luggage.

Ransom will be releasing the first delivery of their Spring/Summer 2008 collection this coming weekend. The first drop consists of shirts, shorts and also a couple of New Era caps. We especially like the fleece shorts. They kept the styles overall subtle and concentrated on the details and materials. In terms of branding they only have a Ransom tag on all styles embroidered. This fall the people from Goodfoot/Ransom/Stussy Toronto/etc (the list is getting longer every year) are introducing a new brand – Invisible Tailor. Where their Goodfoot collection is definitely streetwear and Ransom more subtle and mature, the Invisible Tailor collection exclusively works with leathers. The collection is for both men and women and consists of a line-up of high quality leather jackets. Via Matt George.

We already presented you plenty of lookbook images from the Ransom Spring/Summer 2008 collection. Here now some product shots of the latest goods that were released. The Ransom S/S ‘08 fleece has been released and they made variety of crewneck sweaters and hoodies. The crewnecks come with prints or with very detailed embroideries. The hoodies stay very simpe, but again the details make them special. The most special one comes with waterproof zippers and a large “Ransom” embroidery over the hood.

This season, RANSOM presents their second collection for Spring/Summer 08.

Their Spring/Summer 08 collection, once again underlines RANSOM’s progression of the line beyond the bounds of what is traditionally considered streetwear. The line is strong in presentation of shirts and shorts, showing maturity and crossover into traditional menswear by presenting subtle details found throughout their garments.

Next week is once again Magic time. The entire industry heads over to Las Vegas for the week and of course there are tons of parties going on. One of the more interesting events is for sure the Ransom x Undefeated x Stussy “Scared Money Don’t Make Money” party, taking place at the Downtown Cocktail Room on the 13th of February. With the Fall/Winter 2007 collection Ransom has nicely introduced itself as one of the more mature and quality brands in our market, something many had been waiting for. Going into their second season, the now present some pieces out of the Spring/Summer 2008 collection, that will be hitting stores in a couple of months.
The Ransom Spring/Summer ‘08 collection consists of a nice range of t-shirts, shirts, shorts, chinos as well as some accessories. Just like the first time around, the collection is entirely cut & sew and the quality very good. We look forward for the launch of the new collection of the Canadian brand. Pics via Matt George.

Several times we have already given you previous of the excellent cut & sew that will be released as part of the first full blown Ransom collection this Fall/Winter season. To start you off they have now already released some new Ransom t-shirts and they are available at the Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary stores, with the Toronto store being under construction at the moment. The Goodfoot/Ransom crew definitely has a nice setup now in Canada, also with a younger Goodfoot collection and a more grown-up Ransom collection on their ways. Pics via Matt George.

We have been spending this week some time in Copenhagen to visit some of the tradeshows that are going on here at the moment. Last night we were at the WoodWood Spring/Summer ‘08 fashion show and the Adidas Originals Spring/Summer ‘08 fashion show. A great event, some more on that later.
Firs thing we did was visit the Caliroots Showroom that is set up in Copenhagen during the tradeshows. They brought out the Crooks & Castles collection, The Hundreds, Reigning Champs and also the Ransom Fall 2007 collection. It was the first time that we saw the Ransom collection live.
The Ransom collection looks very good and it’s only their very first. Overall subtle and very solid, the entire collection comes in good quality, cuts and materials. We were especially excited about the jackets – there is an M-65 in three colorways, a nice corduroy stadium jacket in two colorways, the wax coat in three colorways and also some outstanding hoodies with waffle lining, subtle tonal hood embroidery and waterproof zippers. We were definitely impressed and cannot wait for it to be released. Also Canada shows how some good plaid shirts are made – everybody is doing them, but doing them well is less obvious then it seems. There is more to come – New Eras and denim will also be released, but more on that later on. The collection is planned to hit select stores in Europe starting September.

As usual the people behind Ransom and Goodfoot are up to great things in Canada. Strictly Fitteds just reports about the opening of the Ransom Fitted Store. Very nice interior in mostly dark woods and some nice lighting as a finishing touch. There is nothing against a good clean store design.
