On the heels of STPL’s Fall 2011 collection revealing, Reed Space showcases their 2011 collaborative jacket with Penfield. This jacket has some nice details infused such as a water-resistant nylon outer, premium leather hits, silver zipper and snaps, and a nice eye-catching red lining inspired by the Craftsman Toolbox. New York’s Reed Space decided to get together with fragrance makers Joya and men’s cosmectics brand Baxter Of California to develop a custom scent. The outcome is LAPSANG NOIR.

“LAPSANG NOIR is a smoky, steaming black Lapsang Souchong Tea with inflections of exotic Indonesian herbal tones over a warm and radiant white floral mix of Tuberose, Pikaki, Ylang Ylang and Jacaranda blossoms.
We were burning the Baxter “Noir” Candle Series at the Staple Design HQ as well as Reed Space on a regular basis. It’s a unanimous favorite for everyone. This inspired us to create a custom scent that was uniquely ours, but still, shared the spirit of Baxter of California and Joya. The result is something that took 15 months to create and we are supremely proud of this collaboration: LAPSANG NOIR.

The Lapsang Noir candle will be available in two sizes: HALF KILO ($84) and FULL KILO ($151). The large
black wax candles have impressive burn times of 100 hours and 200 hours respectively. You can find the candles at Reed Space in NYC and at Baxter Finley (Baxter’s Barber Shop) in Los Angeles. Additionally the candles will be available online at select retail partners.”

Not only do these smell great, but the candles packaging is also simple and beautiful, inspired by the packaging of tea.

With the help of Interisland Terminal and the incredible team at Creative Solutions/HI, Reed Space HNL opened last night in Hawaii with a special friends and family reception. jeffstaple speaks: “I wanted to bring the concept of Reed Space NYC to Hawaii. We took our infamous chair wall in NYC and reinterpreted it for Hawaii using ONLY chairs as fixturing for the pop-up shop. The shop concentrates on our selection books, magazines, independent publication, music and accessories. It will be open till Aug 8th!” Be sure to stop by if you’re on Honolulu in the next month.

Once again Bread & Butter presents their Flearmarket, a line-up of some of the strongest from around the globe, selling their goods for bargain prices.
