While we wait for the new Vans, Japanese favorite WTAPS has released some espadrille slippers for those of you in warmer climates. Atop the woven jute midsole sits a pair of heavy canvas straps with synthetic leather lining and a utility loop. Made in Spain. Firmament Berlin has stock.

Another new sandal style has released this week from visvim. The Lama Sandal-Folk is the Japanese brand’s more sophisticated version of a flip flop sandal, featuring premium leathers and nice stitching details.

Still from their current Summer 2011 Collection, URSUS Bape has released a pair of sandals. Inspired by one of the Birkenstock classics, the closed front sandal comes in two suede colorways and they are now available in stores.

mastermind JAPAN has linked up with Papillio, a sub brand by Birkenstock, on the Barcelona sandal. The sandal is made of black leather and features a matching black outer sole, with the mastermind JAPAN logo printed on the ankle strap in either gold or silver.

In4mation teams up with Freewaters for a limited sandal (slipper in Hawaii,) featuring a bottom sole detail that leaves a “Respect Locals” imprint in the sand.

The Nike Air Moc has been sandal-ized for summer. Though they feature the same rounded outsole, pull-cord laces and general potatoe-sac shape of the Nike Air Moc the sandal version sports a completely remixed upper with cut-out portions, stripes and an odd toe box. Overall: super weird, just as they like ‘em in Boston.

Available in black, tan, brown or camo the SOPHNET Island Slippers are an excellent take on the warm-weather essential. These are indeed handmade in Hawaii by the Island Slipper brand, however, it goes without saying that these are strictly for the beach, pool or shower. No water, no slippers.

XLarge keeps us busy these days and celebrates their 20th anniversary with a wealth of collaborations. Only this week they present three new ones. With Champion they worked on vintage logo t-shirts and matching sweat shorts. With Birki’s they present an all over XLarge logo sandal and with Hanes they worked on simple plain t-shirts, round neck and v-neck. All three collaborations will be released on April 29th, 2011.

To commemorate the opening of the new Isetan Osaka department store, Nike and Sophnet got together to collaborate on the Air Deschutz sandal. Picking up the tricolor theme, both sandals feature those colors on the upper, with only a small red ACG logo distracting. The white colorway will make it to Nike Sportswear NSW dealers, while the navy colorway will only be available from Sophnet flagship stores.
