Denim store Self Edge opened four years ago in San Francisco and quickly became the one go to destination for all denim aficionados. A year ago they opened their New York outpost and next to follow is Los Angeles. The new Los Angeles location will open its doors on September 1st and will carry the same product range as SESF and SENY.

3sixteen and Self Edge have come together to design a collection of jeans. For the first release they have two fits made up of a beautiful rope dyed Japanese double red-line selvedge denim. The denim on these jeans has a deep indigo shade and is slightly on the abrasive side and is sure to yield a great aged look with normal wear. The collaborative sub-line of denim by the New York brand and the retailer, is now available from Self Edge New York and Self Edge San Francisco and online.

Here is a first – San Francisco based denim store Self Edge got together with Dry Bones and with Superfuture to collaborate on a pair of denim.

“The SEXDBXS09 jean has been produced by Dry Bones, one of Japan’s longest running vintage Americana style denim manufacturers. Months were spent getting the denim exactly where we wanted it and the denim was woven for this project; as the denim has never before been used on another garment nobody knows exactly how it will age.
Self Edge has chosen a denim with a little more weight than the classic styles, at 16oz it’s got heft to it, and with massive amounts of character showing from the warp and weft it’s sure to age well.
The fit is that of a straight leg jean, slightly slimmed down, with a button fly and a long inseam which can be hemmed to the wearer’s length without altering the silhouette.”

The denim will be released at Self Edge tomorrow, February 28th, both online and in store. Many more detailed images of the denim follow after the jump.

Head Porter, Japan’s most famous bag company comes together with Buzz Rickson (Sugar Cane) and William Gibson to bring us this new collection of bags. The fabrics used for the collection is nylon originally developed for military bulletproof vests, which is 5 times stronger than regular nylon fabric, and genuine horse leather made for Buzz Rickson’s A-2 jackets. Both bags come with a Porter MAG light as a zipper pull, various inner hidden pockets, gusseted outer pockets, removable shoulder straps, and more. There is also a William Gibson party coming up at Self Edge on November 9th with the man himself, more information to follow.

A fantastic project with a beautiful outcome. The mix of high quality nylon and leather turned out really nice. Also the contrasting brown leather tag and Mag Lite are nice design details.

Both the shoulder bag and the laptop bag (book bag) are now available Self Edge and via the online store in extremely limited quantities.

Self Edge and Iron Heart have come together to bring you the world’s first pair of jeans designed from the ground up for cyclists. It was only a matter of time, that somebody would take the needs of the cycling community into consideration on something as basic as denim.  Months of testing and analyzing where other jeans failed during extended use while cycling led to the creation of the SEXIH03 – to create a middle ground between fashion and functionality.  For those that enjoy artisan Japanese denim, cycling, and fashion these are the ultimate pair of jeans. Made in Japan from the world’s heaviest weight denim coming in at twenty-one ounces per square yard.
Special features on the denim include: Extra belt loops at the rear of the waistband to avoid torn loops from backpack usage and to prevent the pulling down of the waistband if a belt is worn while riding, spring loaded clip metal key fob hanging from front belt loop, reinforced crotch rivet, crotch cross-stitch moved 1” forward to delay crotch blow-outs and for the comfort of the rider, rear pockets sized to fit a mini U-Lock, higher rise in the back, lower rise in the front for maximum comfort and mobility and more.
Only 125 pairs of the selvedge indigo model and 25 of the non-selvedge black model were made. Both will be retailing for 360 USD. The SEXIH03 and SEXIH03BK will go on sale in-store on Saturday November 24th and will be available at www.selfedge.com on December 1st.

Japanese premium denim brand Sugar Cane and San Francisco store Self Edge once again got together to create this time, Sugar Cane’s first ever slim cut denim – SEXSC02.
Details of the denim are: 14.5 ounce Double ring-spun Raw Unsanforized Japanese
Selvedge Denim, Hidden Rivets, Sugar Cane Logo Buttons, Ostrich Skin Leather Tag, Houndstooth Fabric Pocket Bags, Slim Cut.
The denim will be released exclusively at Self Edge and the Denim Bar, October 13th and will retail for 295 USD. Online they will be available as of October 20th.
