Also this partnership we have already announced. Finally Colette (storeguide) will come to New York City (well, for a little while at least) thanks to Gap. Below all the details on the roll-out of this project.
“Gap has commissioned renowned Paris boutique colette to create a special one-month installation in Gap’s rotating concept store adjacent to the New York City flagship store at 54th and 5th Avenue. The collete x GAP store will be open from « September 6 through October 5, 2008. This exciting endeavor marks the first colette store in the United States, making the brand’s sought-after items available to U.S. consumers for the first time ever. Similar to the Parisian store, colette x GAP store will offer a mix of hard-to-find products from around the world and cater to an ever-evolving mix of genres and tastes alike.”
Something to look out for!

Nike is definitely serious with the recent addition of the Nike Sportswear collection. On the 8th of August, the day of the Beijing Olympics Opening, they will be opening a Nike Sportswear flagship store in New York City. It will be a dedicated, stand-along Nike Sportswear store and it seems like it is not a pop-up but a permanent store in Soho. There will be a series of pop-up stores, such as the ones at Opening Ceremy LA and NY , but this will be the only permanent store.

Today we came across news of a new store in London – A Child Of The Jago. Even though you might not have heard of the store, we are pretty sure you have heard of the people that are running it – Barnzley and Joseph Core of Agent Provocateur.
The name of the store comes from a book with the same title, written by Arthur Morrison and takes place in the London slums in the 1890’s.
It looks like the store carries Cassette Playa as well as some other hard to come across brands and vintage goods. Already the location is well worth visiting! Via Carri Munden .

We have already reported that Colette is currently renovating their store in Paris. Today they announced some features of the new renovated store and it for sure sounds intriguing and interesting.
"The will indeed is to ensure the first floor a broadened out area, not only dedicated to fashion, and also a more accessible space for streetwear, so dynamic today. colette therefore contacted Japanese architect Masamichi Katayama / Wonderwall* to go over its ground floor and finally decided to let him redesign all three floors. A real challenge for him because of the limited time and existing space to work with.
On the ground floor, clients will still find a selection of books, magazines, CDs, records, DVDs, hi-tech products, watches and accessories, and all these little fun objects we love. There will also be a space dedicated to streetwear culture with a wall of sneakers, a house of tshirts multi-brands and mini-shops Alife, A Bathing Ape, Billionaire Boys Club / Ice Cream, Original Fake (all exclusive).
On the first floor, find always mens and womens fashion with our unique mix of established brands and newcomers, as well as accessories and precious jewelry. Beauty, “candles bar” and our favorites of the season will come to complete. The gallery remains were currently situated and a new space for temporary projects will be created below."
We cannot wait for the new store to be finished. August 25 is the re-opening.
In the meantime you can visit the Mini Colette Store at 23 Place du Marché Saint Honoré.

We already reported earlier that Colette is closing on July 7th until August 25th for renovations. The new interior of the store is created by Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall, whom you should know well by now for creating all Bape stores as well as the Original Fake and many recent Uniqlo stores.
There will also be a mini Colette opening in New York on September 6th until October 5th. The pop-up shop will be located next to the Gap flagship store on 54th Street near 5th Avenue. Of course they will have a ton of collaborative product available just for the new location.
Last but not least they are promising a revamp of their website, which will mainly change the experience of online shopping and make it closer to their in-store experience.
Lots of good news!

Each storefront will offer customers a unique fashion and fine art experience. In celebration of the new properties, the three entities will host anopen house on Saturday, May 31, 2008 that will feature a special art exhibit and appearances from some of the world’s leading designers involved in the project.
Upper Playground is the pioneer of combining fashion and fine art. In celebration of the new store opening, there will be a special art exhibit featuring the works of Usugrow, Sam Flores, Jeremy Fish, David Choe, Herbert Baglione, San, Retna, Saber, Alex Pardee, Ron English, Doze Green, Slick, Armsrock and David Ellis. Many of the featured artists on display also contribute designs to Upper Playground’s apparel line.
In addition to Upper Playground, the new venture includes “The Last Laugh,” which will house the Mister Cartoon and Estevan Oriol retail experiences.
The fourth location involved in the new retail project will be a rotating concept that will house unique fashion and art concepts for short periods of time. During the open house, it will feature a display of custom motorcycles from 1998 AMA 250cc Champion-turned motorcycle designer Roland Sands and limited-edition fashion pieces from designer and model Tony Ward’s line, Six in the Face. From August through September the site will be transformed into a truly unique promotional experience for the upcoming feature film from Overture Films called “Righteous Kill” starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. SA Studios Global, the agency of Estevan Oriol and Mister Cartoon, was selected to produce the iconic poster for the film. The space will become the exclusive promotional headquarters for the film and will feature a shrine to the film’s stars.

Wow, not one store, but actually 4 ventures will be opened and it sure sounds like it is worth passing by once in a while. Even if not for the clothing, there seem to be many other reasons to check out the space. The hype around opening retail spaces in Los Angeles does not seem to find an end.
