Capsule Show | Sixpack France Spring 2010 Preview

Sixpack France made their debut US tradeshow appearance this week at (capsule) Show Las Vegas. On display was a Spring 2010 collection entitled The Death of Print. Focusing on a less flashy, graphically driven aesthetic than we’ve seen in the past, the brand developed several well-cut, paneled oxford shirts and concept-based graphic tees alongside patterned fleece and accessories. Spending a week in the desert on a recent trip to LA, Sixpack also worked with a loose psychedelia theme over an artist series of garments featuring the work of Steven Harrington and others. Watch for these pieces to hit retail come Spring 2010.

National Forest for Sixpack France Collection

National Forest for Sixpack France Collection
Sixpack France worked with Steven Harrington and Justin Krietemeyer’s graphic studio, National Forest, as the latest extension of their time-scanning Autumn/Winter 2009 line. The work is presented in a capsule-collection homage to Superstudio’s Fundamental Acts series and is entitled “A bizarre travelogue into radical dramatic architecture”.

Created from 1971 to 1973, the “Fundamental Acts” were a series of 5 experimental movies centred on the relations between architecture as a conscious formalization of the planet, and human life. The whole series was based on Gustav Freytag’s classical dramatic structure. Each video made a natural progression into the following five acts: the exposition; the rising action; the climax; the falling action and the catastrophe.

National Forest adapted this dramatic pyramid structure into a series of five abstractly designed clothing pieces: Life-Youth-Ceremony-Love-Death. Physically, they take form as 4 t-shirts and a jacket. The line is now available online here.

Sixpack France Autumn/Winter 2009 Look Book

Sixpack France have launched a new website. “The Sixpack decade is one of transition, Usenet became web 2.0. The old world is dead, but it doesn’t know it yet. Sub-cultures from the past govern the living world. Sixpack isn’t tired yet.” The flagship feature of the site is an impressive look book showcasing Sixpack’s Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. As always, a solid arrangement of well designed items.

Robert Crumb x Sixpack France Micro-Collection

01 August 2009, 01.00 | Posted in Fashion | 3 comments »

Robert Crumb x Sixpack France Micro-CollectionSixpack France presents the second part of their triptych line “Fragments of Yesterday,” with a Robert Crumb micro-collection. As an obvious progression from their recent collection, Sixpack wanted to make a tribute to the American counter culture and underline its influence on modern art – and who better represents that movement than cartoonist Robert Crumb?

Sixpack says they “have always been very inspired and impressed by his works, his avant-garde cartoons which were a hilarious satyre of American society, his anti corporate professionnal choices and his support to alternative independant medias like fanzines and underground comix.” The collaboration consists of three t-shirts each using vintage R. Crumb drawings from the 1970’s. Available now from Sixpack France.

DC x Sixpack France Fall 2009 Double Label Project
DC has partnered with Sixpack France for their latest Double Label Project.  The collection, dubbed “Non Merci”, draws from inspirations that cross political borders, embrace impossible love and yet harbor deep feelings. Meaning “no thanks” in French, the translation of “Non Merci” can also be interpreted as “I’m over it.” For the project, the symbol of this mindset is a beautiful blonde model that exudes “Non Merci”, placing her on an untouchable pedestal as an object of desire.

Two DC LIFE silhouettes, the Xander and Sector 7, are detailed with custom Sixpack patterns and logos, and trimmed with pigskin leathers. Clear soles on both shoes are underlain with the image of the blonde model. Accompanying the footwear is a lambskin leather hooded jacket, a reversible crewneck pullover, and a zip hoodie. Available now at DC flagship stores select boutiques worldwide. For more information please visit DCShoes.com.
