First previewed during CES earlier this year, Sony presents their new HMZ-T1 headset, which features a a display for watching movies and playing games in 3D. Not only does the device feature two OLED screens, but also digital surround sound. Each screen comes with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, which is reportedly like looking at a 750 inch (62.5 feet) screen from about sixty feet away. Wow!

The headset will make its debut on the Japanese market, November 2011 and will go for about 800 USD.

After a first preview the other day, the Sony NEX-7 digital camera makes its official debut this week. The 24.3 megapixel interchangeable lense camera is not only the best looking from Sony in a while, the feature set is also very impressive.

“Here’s performance that would give most DSLRs camera envy, including interchangeable lenses, a 2359K dot OLED eye-level TTL viewfinder, up to 10fps shooting, and outstanding Tri-Navi 3-dial manual control. HD movies are superb with Full 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60p, 60i and 24p.”

Other features include a hot shoe for a system flash, tiltable LCD display, 3D panorama mode, and a lot more. Amazon has it up for pre-order now, with the body being priced at 1′200 USD.

Sony presents the new Cybershot TX55 digital camera, the world’s thinnest antishake camera. While we have been concentrating on the latest micro 4/3 cameras for the most part, it is always nice having a thin and powerful, as well as light, companion with you at all times. The new TX55 seems to perfectly fit that profile. The 16.2 megapixel camera can shoot HD and 3D video and shoots impressive 12 megapixel images while filming video. Other great features include the thin OLED touchscreen, waterproof features, and just overall image quality.

Sony has updated its line of digital cameras with a new model called the NEX-C3. We have already announced the camera a while ago, yet only this week the official Sony announcement came in.

The NEX-C3 uses the same format APS-C image sensor as its predecessor, but with a resolution of 16.2 megapixels in a camera body smaller than the NEX-5. According to Sony, the new entry-level cam is designed to fill the gap between point-and-shoot and DSLR cameras.

The NEX-C3 ships in late July or August, and will be offered with 18-55mm and 16mm kit lenses for $649 and $599, respectively.

Last night at 2011 E3, Sony made the first official announcement about their next generation handheld gaming console – the PlayStation Vita.

“Successively launching in the global market for $249 starting the end of this year, PS Vita incorporates a beautiful 5-inch multi-touch organic light emitting diode (OLED) as the front display and a unique multi-touch pad on the rear. Two analog sticks enable a wider range of game genres. Together with the front touch screen and the rear touch pad, PS Vita offers new gameplay, enabling entirely new experiences.”

Sony partnered with AT&T to offer 3G and WiFi connectivity for the device.

Around the same time last year, Sony entered the Micro 4/3 digital camera market with their Nex-3 and Nex-5 cameras, offering up the lightest of its kind in the market at the time. Soon it is time for an upgrade and today we can give you a first look at the successor of the Nex-3 – the NEX-C3.

Coming with the same same 16.2 MP APS-C sensor (1.5x crop factor) as the Sony Alpha A580, Nikon D7000, Pentax K5, Sony has updated the looks, made everything a little more round and sleek, as well as compact. The camera will be offered in three package deals, each coming with a different lense. An official release date has not been announced yet.

Sony has revealed this week their first move into the tablet computer market. At a Tokyo event the electronics giant introduced their first two Android 3.0 tablets – the S1 and the S2 dual screen tablet.

“The first is the Qriocity-focused 9.4-inch S1 media tablet with both front- and rear-facing cameras and a curved wrap design that resembles a folded magazine. The S1 features a Tegra 2 SoC and customized “Quick and Smooth” touch panel UI with “Swift” web browser. It can also be used as a remote control for Sony gear thanks to integrated infrared.

The second tablet is the dual-screen S2 clamshell with its pair of 5.5-inch 1,024 x 480 pixel displays, Tegra 2 SoC, and camera. While it sounds bulky, Kunimasa Suzuki just pulled the hinged tablet from his jacket pocket on stage. Sony takes advantage of the two screens with a custom book-style UI layout for its e-reader app, split keyboard and messaging displays for email, and split display and game controllers for PS One gaming. Both the S1 and S2 are PlayStation Certified, support DLNA, and are WiFi and 3G/4G “compatible” according to Sony.”

Prices have not been announced yet, but are expected to be between 600USD and 700 USD respectively. In terms of design Sony usually brings out appealing product, which is also clearly the case here. Now we just have to see if they manage to go against the iPad in any way with these devices.

This week Sony has started showcasing first images of their new PSP aka NGP (Next Generation Portable), their new portable gaming device.

“Designed to blur the lines between interactive entertainment and reality, the NGP will offer Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity. The 5-inch OLED front multi-touch display will bring brilliant images to life and the multi-touch pad on the rear will allow users to engage with the game and characters with a simple movement of their fingertips.”

Most interesting is the announcement of Playstation Suite, a new service based on the Android operating system, which will be working on Playstation Suite compatible devices and on the NGP.

“Also announced this evening was PlayStation Suite, an entirely new initiative from PlayStation that will provide fans with the opportunity to enjoy PlayStation content on an open operating system for the first time in PlayStation history. PlayStation Suite will work with Android based, “PlayStation Certified” portable devices – including mobile phones, smart-phones, and tablet PCs – to offer “PlayStation quality” content to users worldwide. In addition to providing a selection of PS one Classics, we are also working with developers to create new and exciting content that will be available on both PlayStation Certified devices and the new NGP when it comes to market”

It comes to no surprise that Sony is finally introducing their answer to the recent trends in Micro 4/3 cameras, mostly coming from Panasonic and Olympus. The idea of having a high quality camera packed into a rather small case is very appealing and has definitely worked in the market. Sony will soon release their new NEX system, first consisting of the Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3. Both come with a mirror-less system, lenses can be exchanged and the NEX-5 will be the lightest camera in the market of its kind. Both come with a 14.2 Megapixel chip and record video in HD. The cameras will be released in several colorways, of which we can preview a few already today.

Sony rolls out a new, much smaller, much lighter PS 3. Dubbed the PlayStation 3 Slim, the new model also eats up way less energy and contains more memory than the original. Sony recently announced the Party-shot personal photographer – “an innovative camera dock that pans 360 degrees and tilts 24 degrees, automatically detects faces, adjusts composition and takes photos for you.” Using the camera’s BIONZ image processor with its Face Detection and Smile Shutter, the Party-shot takes photos all by itself. Sounds fun.

The Party-shot is compatible with Sony’s new DSC-WX1 and DSC-TX1 Cyber-shot cameras and is mountable on most tripods. Captures photos for up to 11 hours with two AA batteries. Available September 2009 at Sony dealers worldwide for approximately $150 USD.

Sony presents its latest version of their gaming handheld – the PSP Go. It is not just a small update, but a completely new device, now sporting a slide-out mechanism, hiding the controls of the gaming console beneath the screen. The Playstation Portable Go! comes with a 3.8″ screen, 16 gigabyte of memory, Bluetooth, a 43% loss in weight and it comes without the UMD drive. All games and movies can be directly charged onto the flash memory of the device, via the PSN Store. We cannot wait to see it live!

Sony ones again gets together with Porter under their PS Pictogram series. Beginning of 2008 they will be releasing new PSP cases together. There are overall four colorways, each with a different accent color and the PS Pictogram icons on the upper. The cases have enough space to carry the PSP game console as well as some games.
All four will be released on the 2nd of January 2008 at Zozo.
