Winter boots are probably the last thing on your mind at this time of year. Regardless, Sorel has two nice Limited Edition boots coming out for FW10. First up is a bison leather Caribou Reserve boot with two liners – one with a faux-fur snow cuff, and one with felt that can be used as a slipper indoors. The second model is a Caribou made of real stingray leather, with the “stingray eye” on the inner left boot. Something to consider.

With some of our peers already calling SOREL the new black, the Caribou is quickly swelling from Canadian cold weather staple to must have status amongst the quasi-woodsman crowd. Look out Red Wing. Look out L.L. Bean. Not quite as outlandish as the 1G, the Reserve is constructed from Bison leather (rather than Ostrich) and runs for $450 USD.

Today I’m posting from near Lac Brome, Quebec, about 99KM away from Sorel itself, so I thought I’d let you have a look at the winter boot label’s most premium, limited edition release of the season. Oozing luxury and warmth, the Caribou 1G in ostrich leather is available now at select Sorel accounts for a clean $1000.

After their recent project with New Balance, Boston boutique Concepts now got together with Sorel to make sure that your feet stay warm and dry this winter.

Originally founded by William H. Kaufman Inc. in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Sorel™ has long been associated with the development and distribution of durable, comfortable, cold-weather footwear since 1908. In the early 1960s, Sorel™ was the first to combine leather uppers, rubber bottoms and removable felt liners to make the warmest and driest winter boots available anywhere in the world.

Concepts worked with Sorel on 2 classic models, the men’s Caribou and the women’s Joan of Arctic, using premium leathers, suede’s and waxed cotton on the uppers. Each boot comes with an alternate fleece lining, is water proof and rated for -30 fahrenheit. The boots are now available at Concepts Boston.

Just this morning we presented to you the new Concepts x Timberland x Mitchell & Ness collaboration on boots and hats, here comes the announcement of another strong collaborative project from the Boston retailer. Concepts worked with Sorel on boots for Fall/Winter 2009. This will be the first collaboration by Sorel, next to the one they did some time ago with Bape. There will be a mens and a womens model and hopefully we can soon tell you more.

A great collaboration is coming from Bape and Sorel this season. The classic Sorel duck hunt boot got the Bape treatment. The leather upper features an embossed Bape camouflage pattern. Since it is embossed and not printed, the pattern is actually pretty subtle and does not distract from the otherwise classic looks.
