Swedish bike brand Sson has first made a name for itself with a very well designed beach cruiser a couple of years ago. Today they launch their new 028 fixed gear bike.

“We wanted to make a bicycle that is as generic & timeless as possible, using both modern and vintage design features for that custom made feeling. We chose a straight fork both out of aesthetic & functional reasons as it makes for a quicker sensation. In fact, all angles on the Sson 028 are true track bike angles. The frame is made using CroMo steel 4130 & all intersections on the frame are tig welded except one that is lugged. We also incorporated the timeless aesthetic of the bicycle by using a fashionable N.Y. style 41 cm cut off riser handlebar & connecting it to a drop stem & vintage looking threaded Tange headset. We also wanted to add a vintage feel to the saddle, so we put it toghether using brass rivets. The front wheel is laced radial style & the back wheel has a flip flop hub, which makes it possible to choose whether you want to ride fixed gear or single speed.”

The bike comes with a really great travel case as well and is now available exclusively through the C Store.

Swedish footwear label Jim Rickey worked with Scandinavian bike makers Sson on a collaborative BMX cruiser. Having previously worked with Caliroots and Parra on custom cycles, Sson took their steel-framed 016 bike and outfitted it with gold and white Jim Rickey details. “Think of it as the biggest possible BMX that you have seen and one that will get you to the afterparty in no time at all. After the afterparty it’s the after afterparty somewhere, hosted by Jim Rickey.” Only 10 pieces were produced and will be sold starting October 15, 2009 through the top Jim Rickey shops in Europe and Asia.

Caliroots continues to celebrate their 5th anniversary. They got together with Sson, known for their cruiser/bmx hybrid bike. The bike comes limited to only 3 pieces with Caliroots branding and will be released exclusively at the Bread & Butter Fleamarket next week.

Recently we came across a rather new Scandinavian brand, which has an approach to things, that we can very well identify with. Sson is the brand and the name describes the reason for the existence of certain products. In the end the approach of the brand is pretty straight forward – products they make are essential, only include what is really necessary and are well designed in a minimalist Scandinavian way. These principles are reflected in each product of the brand and the product mix is quite extra-ordinary too.
Sson currently offers wool caps, a BMX cruiser and soap. You heard right! They offer a wide variety of wool caps, so you should have no trouble finding the one matching your wardrobe. Their BMX Cruiser 003a comes in white and with a sticker set, so that you can customize it yourself and give it your very own personal touch. Their soap comes in black and white.
