Today we get a first more detailed look at the adidas Originals Plants Pack. The pack, with obvious inspiration from the world of plants, consists of the Nizza Hi Plant, Samba Plant, Forum Mid Plant, Stan Smith 80s Plant and the Superstar 80s Plant. All sneakers of the pack come in premium white leathers with an enhanced adidas Trefoil logo and the sole inspired by soil.

adidas Originals presents their Fall/Winter 2009 Seasons Greetings Pack. The pack consists of the Stan Smith 2 and the Superstar 2, both coming in typical Christmas color combinations with further Christmas inspired graphics on the tongue tag and heel. To round-off the pack each Stan Smith and Superstar sneaker comes with a Qee toy keychain, dressed like Santa. The pack is now available from Flauge.

Another high profile collaboration comes as part of the adidas Originals Five-Two 3 Project Brands Pack. This time they worked with Maharishi on the classic Stan Smith.

In line with maharishi’s strong ‘decommissioned’ army influences, drawing attention to the beauty of camo patterns and clothing design and negating the military associations, the light blue canvas upper of this Stan Smith makeup draws inspiration from a less obvious piece of regulation apparel – naval chambray shirting circa WWII.

Contrasting white stitching continues the theme, while a red top eyelet, metal eyelets reinforcing the trademark ‘3-Stripes’ of perforation make for subtle but effective detailing. The brand’s signature dragon motif is embroidered on the tongue, with a maharishi logo applied on the heel and a special ‘XV mahadidas’ sockliner to complete a unique meeting-of-minds.

After showing you already the adidas Originals x Nom de Guerre Forum Mid from the Five-Two 3 Project, we can preview today the XLarge, Maharishi and Porter collaborations from the Project. XLarge worked on the Superstar and gave it a multicolored faux snakeskin upper. Maharishi worked on the Stan Smith 80 and gave it a chambray upper. Porter from Japan worked with one of their custom nylon materials on the upper and added a zipper along the heel on the Nizza Hi LX. All three sneakers will be available soon at Proper.

The third and final drop of the 3Way Consortium project from adidas Originals sees the series heading East for a work around between some of the most respected sneaker retailers and influencers of the region.

With the choice of working on the 5 models together in whatever manner they chose Acu, Crooked Tongues (London based but with strong ties to Thailand), D-Mop and VA decided to pair up on two shoes each and all collaborate together on the fifth. The 5 retailers worked on the Samba, Forum Mid, Nizza, Stan Smith and the Superstar, all together covering the most prominent sneakers in the adidas Originals catalogue. The sneakers will go on sale at adidas Consortium retailers on July 18th.

Sometimes keeping classics classic just works best. For Fall 2009 adidas Originals presents a collection of suede trainers, inclluding the Forum Mid, Nizza Hi, Samba Trainer, Stan Smith Vintage, Superstar Vintage and Greenstar Trainer. All of them come in nice colorful options with premium suede uppers. Especially the Stan Smith, Forum Mid and Nizza Hi came out really nice. The adidas Tournament Edition, a tennis inspired premium vintage sneaker collection, returns for Fall 2009 and some really good stuff in it. Aside from the Stan Smith Vintage, Grand Slam Vintage and the Nastase Super, we are most excited about the re-release of the Lendl Comp Vintage. All four sneakers come in premium leathers with very subtle accents.

The second group of the adidas 3Way Project is about to be released and the group is about as strong as it could be. The following sneakers were designed by Goodfoot, DQM, Huf and Undefeated. Rather than the first time around, where each store designed one shoe and all of them one collective shoe, the second group worked on four collective sneakers, consisting of the Stan Smith, Nizza Hi, Forum Mid and Samab. The pack is overall very minimalistic and if you take the Forum Mid out of the equation consists of very subtle and easy to wear sneakers, featuring suede and fleece uppers.

The Forum Mid will only be released at the four involved retailers, where as the other three sneakers will also be available at other Consortium retailers around the globe. The sneakers will be released some time in May.

The brand with three stripes adds a few more stripes in their latest set. The “Stripes” pack includes two classic Adidas models – the Stan Smith and the Superstar – embellished with, well, stripes. The Stan Smith comes in a grey/black/green colorway and the Superstar in white/black/blue. The pack is now available at DQM.

As iconic sneakers go, the Stan Smith, Campus and Superstar remain unsurpassed, and having undergone several aesthetic alterations during their collective lifetimes, the ’80’s represents their street level zenith, with these shoes exiting the courts to become essential fashion items in their own right. Arguably the ultimate incarnation of each model, with the alterations in shape affording these silhouettes some extra attitude, and firing the imaginations of nascent sneakerheads globally, the appeal remains, and this 80’s Pack, with a navy suede Campus 80’s, white Superstar 80’s with black 3-Stripes, and the familiar white and green Stan Smith 80’s, sees this trio in fine form, looking as strong as ever. Absolutely essential.
