Yesterday, rapper Snoop Dogg joined Darth Vader to lead Stormtroopers around New York City to launch the much-anticipated adidas Originals x Star Wars footwear and apparel collection.

The new and improved remix of the classic Star Wars moment – the Imperial March was created to celebrate the out-of-this-world collaboration. The battalion started at Foot Locker on West 34th Street, marched to Foot Locker in Times Square and ended at the adidas Originals store in SoHo.

At the final destination in SoHo, Snoop unveiled the long awaited exclusive styles, the Luke Skywalker sneaker through a cloud of smoke, while DJ Neil Armstrong spun beats in the background.

adidas made use of the Bread&Butter Winter 2010 get together to celebrate the launch of their Star Wars collaboration collection that we already reported on several times. The party took place in a cool underground location in Berlin. These New Puritans played live for most of the evening and made sure that the crowd was properly entertained. Free drinks of course also helped.

One of the most interesting aspects of the pack, that we weren’t able to show you before is the packaging. Each pair of shoes comes packaged in a plastic blister pack on cardboard, much in the same vein as the classic Star Wars toys, which really adds an extra bit of nostalgia. The collection for the first season is split into three packs – The Characters Pack, the Vehicles Pack and the Direct Pack. The products in each pack take inspiration from the respective aspect of the Star Wars lexicon from legendary characters and crafts to classic scenes and fuse them with iconic adidas Originals silhouettes. The pieces will begin to hit all adidas Originals stores and other select retailers in January. Also, look out for a very special web application announcing the adidas and Star Wars collaboration which will hit the internet within the next couple of week. The other day we gave you a first look at the upcoming adidas Originals Star Wars Collection. Today we can report about a collaboration between Porter and Star Wars. The line consists of tote bags, backpacks, shoulder bags and wallets. They used a Stormtrooper and a lightsaber all-over pattern on the bags. We appreciate the fact that they kept it pretty subtle with the colors and patterns, at least compared to what they could have done. The collection will be released at Zozo in January 2010.
