Artist Steve “ESPO” Powers celebrates his 100th Daily Painting with this mini-documentary.

Curated fills us in on the new Syracuse, NY chapter of Steve Powers’ (ESPO) love letter campaign. “The Love Letters to Syracuse project is designed to bridge a gap between too disaparate neighborhoods in the city and and transform the barrier into a point of conversation. Powers’ signature typography and wit are on full display. Follow the project at the official site.”

Absolut Vodka has teamed up with artists Steve “EPSO” Powers and Chiho Aoshima for a new promotion called The Art of Sharing. Each artist has contributed two designs to a series of four unique drink pitchers that have been released in various sizes for different markets. Check the Absolut collector’s forum if you’re interested in tracking them all down.

Renowned Philly street artist Steve Powers aka ESPO speaks at the recent PSFK New York Conference. Enjoy!

The Selby paid a visit to artist Steve Powers aka ESPO in his studio space. It is always great getting an inside look at the spaces of creative people and especially of somebody as iconic as ESPO. The studio can be best described as a creative mess, that certainly has its own charm, with lots of art, sculptures and random inspirational pieces floating around. Fresh from his Philly Love Letter project, POW is offering a new Valentine’s-ish print from Steve “ESPO” Powers. “It’s a fine sentiment to be throwing around at this time of year, but due to circumstances (alcohol) beyond our control it’s a bit late in being printed. You can order it in time for valentines, but you won’t receive it in time. Still, whats more romantic than a proof of purchase on POW headed paper?” 55 x 55 cm. POW has a dope new print by Steve “ESPO” Powers entitled “New York.” It’s a 25″ x 25″, four color screenprint on heavyweight archival paper, released in an edition of 125. Signed and numbered by the artist.

Last month, we gave you an early look into artist Steve Powers’ (aka Espo) work with the city of Philadelphia. Now with the project underway, we’re able to offer a closer look at the finished murals. “Love Letter is literally a love letter painted on the walls facing the Market elevated train. 40 local and international artists will paint the walls in august and the letter will be on view for one and all starting as early as Labor Day. The project will encompass 50 painted walls between 63rd and 45th street on Market Street, a documentary film with scripted elements, a sign school and shop that will provide training for area youth and free signage for businesses on the market street corridor, and 2 books documenting the project. One of the books will be a small paperback that will be distributed to area businesses free of charge, for them to sell to visitors. The other book will be a larger hardcover book that will document not only the artwork, but the neighborhood and the inspirations of the Love Letter Project.”

Curated Mag has news of a new Steve Powers mural. “The project spans 20 West Philadelphia City blocks, and is sponsored by the Mural Arts Program. Through Mural Arts, the city of Philadelphia has engaged in one of the largest civic art projects in the Nation. Each mural helps fulfill the goal of engaging communities in conversation and rehabilitation. Powers exhibition and project will be among the largest sets of murals.”
