Taka Hayashi has been a star player on the Van Vault design team since his first release in 2006. From then he’s pushed on to not only brilliantly rework existing Vans silhouettes, but also to create entirely new ones, many of which have gone on to be among the strongest footwear in the line.

This Spring we see another impressive series from Taka, who once again plays with themes culled from traditional American hand craft, mating them with Vans DNA and top notch materials. The TH Engineer Boot, TH Sierra Trek Hi and TH Sierra Trek Lo will be out for February.

Vans Vault continues to work with Japanese designer Taka Hayashi on footwear. For Fall 2011 the two present the Sk8 Hi TH LX and the Derby TH LX. Both feature premium material uppers and a series of special design elements and features, making them stand out from the regular Vault line-up. We especially like the Crepe soled Derby with its mixed leather/suede upper this season.

From the Vans Vault and Taka Hayashi Spring/Summer 2011 collaboration, new product is releasing this month. The two worked on the Sk8 Hi TH LX and the Derby TH LX. Both sneakers came earlier this season in each two colorways. This month a 3rd colorway of both sneakers will be coming out. The Sk8 Hi TH LX comes in a light beige/brown colorway and the Derby TH LX will be dropping in grey suede. Look out for both sneakers at Vans Vault retailers in the coming weeks.

Today we take a look inside the new Vans Vault Spring 2011 look book. Styles such as the 106 MOC, Derby, Decon, Spectator, Aloha Sk8-Hi, Mid Skool 77, Sk8-Hi Boat, and Woven Check Slip-On and Priz Laced accompany highlights such as new Taka Hayashi Sk8-His and the Vans x Ludwig Deadstock Canvas Project – a special release that comprises 200 pairs of shoes and a belt made of fabrics from the last remaining stock.

The whole range of shoes are portrayed in an artful manner through a 30-age book called “Between You and the Ground” by San Francisco-based artist and designer Scott Barry. The limited run of books are available now at all US Vault retailers at no charge, while supplies last.

The Taka Hayashi designed Vans Vault Velocita LX returns for Holiday 2010 in two new make ups. Purportedly inspired by 60’s-era Italian loafers and Hayashi’s oft referenced Native American crafting, the sneaker features a partially perforated suede upper and a folded heel tab that pops to reveal a quilted leather patch. Further details includes the crimped tongue and heel bumper and waxed laces. Now in stock at Bows and Arrows.

Taka Hayashi continues to work with the Vault by Vans line for Spring 2011 with a new Sk8-Hi LX. Featured in Honey, the sneaker blends Vans Sk8-Hi DNA with Taka’s signature style with native inspired markings, innovative lines, and interesting material choices. For Holiday 2010 Vans Vault teams up with Pendleton and designer Taka Hayashi. This time they decided to work on the Sk8 Hi and the Slip-On, both coming in beautiful light brown uppers with contrasting white stitching and Pendleton wool fabric. The two sneakers are now in stock at Bows & Arrows.

The Vans x Taka Hayashi Akat LX sneaker returns for Holiday 2010, after first having been released as part of last years collaboration with the artist and skater. The mid top sneaker releases this season in butter soft suede in overall 3 colorways, featuring thick stitching and other solid details on the upper. Proper has them in stock now.

In our next episode of Highsnobiety TV we give you a recap of the Vans Vault Fall 2010 Footwear launch event, which took place last week at Soto Berlin. The collaborations with Pendleton, Taka Hayashi, Filson and Brooks were on display.
