Most of you know that Google tends to change their homepage logo for special occasions. Many times in the past they have worked with famous artists as well. This time Japanese artist Takashi Murakami was asked to interprete the logo for the summer solstice and presents his work entitled ‘The First Day of Summer”.

If you visit Google.com today, the creation will be looking right at you!

American artist Mike Leavitt presents his latest sculpture – a 10 inch Takashi Murakami toy sculpture. The artist fused Murakami with one of the Japanese artist’s works. You can purchase the sculpture now through Jonathan Levine Gallery.

Last week the new edition of Art Stage Singapore opened its doors, exhibiting the works of hundreds of artists, represented by overall 120 galleries around the globe. Artists on display include Takashi Murakami, Kaws, Ai Weiwei, David LaChapelle, Banksy and many others. Especially impressive was line-up of sculptures on display from a variety of high profile artists.

With Art Basel Miami currently on, there are of course more news from the art world than in a usual week. One of our favorite, Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is showing his new metallic dog sculptures this week, coming in gold and in silver.

As a special guest Macy’s invited this year Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to add some of his more iconic characters to their Thanksgiving Day Parade. Not only did the artist create super sized version of his KaiKai Kiki characters, but he even came as one himself.

The new Takashi Murakami exhibition has opened over the weekend at Gagosian Rome. On display are two large scale “Dragon On Clouds” paintings by the artist, having a very different look and coloring from the other works of the artist in recent years.

The much anticipated exhibition of Takashi Murakami opens its doors at the famous Chateau de Versailles outside of Paris on September 14th. Today we can already give you an early look at the fantastic exhbition, which mostly showcases sculptural work of the Japanese artist, including some old goodies and some all new pieces as well.
