Street Art Manhole Covers in Milan

From Curated -

For years, Japanese manhole covers have featured bright and colorful artistic designs. Now, thanks to street art legends like Shepard Fairey, The London Police, and Invader, Milan has something to brag about too. Those artists have, with a push from the Don Gallery, provided wrought iron covers to decorated main arteries in the city.

Flying Fortress and Rendo are also on board and the work will remain in use for two years.

The London Police “Brother’s in Arms” Exhibition Preview

The London Police "Brother's in Arms" Exhibition Preview

Carmichael Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of all new Hollywood-themed paintings, video and photography by British artist collective The London Police.

“Brothers in Arms” is a celebration of The London Police’s ten year anniversary. The show features works on canvases, a photographic montage, a site-specific installation and a short film documenting the artists’ creative process. The show’s title reflects both the film (a social experiment about personal space and the artistic and private challenges presented while handcuffed to another person) and the brotherly friendship of partners Chaz and Bob, who have withstood a decade of adventures around the world to present their most focused and exciting body of work yet. This new series of boldly monochromatic pieces pay homage to the city of angels and the classic films of their childhood, such as “Back to the Future” and “Star Wars”. Recognizable imagery is integrated into the symbolic London Police world of smiling characters and futuristic cityscapes. Building upon successful shows in London and Amsterdam during the spring, the collective’s synthesis of high and low culture in “Brothers in Arms” allows for a greater conversation of aesthetics, psychology and globalization.

Opening Reception: Thursday September 10 2009 / 7.00pm – 10.00pm
Exhibition Dates: September 10 – October 1

Address: Carmichael Gallery / 1257 N. La Brea Ave / West Hollywood CA 90038

A preview of the works on display follows after the jump.

Oakley Artist Series – The London Police

12 December 2007, 21.33 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

sunglasses, goggles, hoodie
The London Police started when a few English geezers headed to Amsterdam in 1998 and started rejuvenating the visually disappointing streets of the drug capital of the world. The characters known simply as “LADS” soon held iconic presence in the city.
From 2002 onward, The London Police started sending missionaries into all corners of the globe and soon there were LADS on the streets and in shows in many World cities, including London, Manchester, Brussels, Barcelona, Berlin, Munich, Milan, Torino, Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
In this latest artist collaboration, Oakley offers more than a signature sunglass – in extremely limited quantity, Oakley is introducing The London Police Artist Series Collector Pack, featuring a GASCAN sunglass, CROWBAR goggle and custom hoodie, all in a zippered case – each piece featuring artwork by The London Police.
Retail price on this pack is $500 US. The London Police GASCAN will be sold outside of the pack for a retail price of $170 US. Check those out in more detail after the jump.

Big Geezers Collection by Carhartt

RTEmagicC biggeezers 1.jpg Big Geezers Collection by Carhartt
The Big Geezers Tour 2007 – a Carhartt paint trip through Scandinavia and East Europe. Eight respected artists are hitting the road in a giant night liner to join forces and spread love, peace and friendship across the cities: Microbo (Italy), Joska (Germany), Jeremy Fish (USA), Wayne Horse (Netherlands), Bo 130 (Italy), The London Police (UK), Galo (Italy) and Will Barras (UK) – all part of the Big Geezers family.

In the last years Carhartt has supported and worked closely with many artists and therefore it seems natural to pay tribute to the Big Geezers and initiate this one time road trip. After the Tour D’Amour last summer through South Europe, Carhartt now discovers the North and the East: Copenhagen, Oslo, Warsaw, Budapest, Vienna, and Bratislava – 6 Stops and 5500km in 3 weeks.

The term “Big Geezers” stands for a group of artists doing something together. Originally the idea comes from Chaz, the man behind the London Police. He is the one uniting all the Big Geezers to one force – in this case a paint trip.
Not only do all participating artists contribute their artworks at each location, they also created a Carhartt Big Geezers Clothing collection, that consists of t-shirts, hoodies, sticker bags and some other pieces. We present you here the complete collection, something you do not want to miss out on.
Check out the Big Geezers Collection after the jump.
