We reported last week about the opening of the new The Cobra Snake Pawn Shop in Los Angeles. The doors opened last night and today we can give you a little recap of the opening festivities. Shepard Fairey, The Selby, Jeremy Scott, of course The Cobra Snake and many others attended the event. Make sure to pass by on your next LA trip, to check out all the vintage fiends of the photographer.

A special limited edition version of “The Selby Is In Your Place” will be available exclusively at The Cobra Shop, which launches this evening.

This limited edition The Selby Book will include 3 new exclusive chapters of photos of The Cobrasnake, The Grandmasnake and The Grandpasnake in their homes and will come with a special tote bag, poster and stickers. There will be a book signing during this event where Todd Selby, Mark Hunter, Grandmasnake and Grandpasnake will be available to sign The Selby Book special edition.

As mentioned previously, the launch party takes place on June 8th (tonight) from 6pm – 9pm. The party will be hosted by Jeremy Scott with DJ sets by Shepard Fairey and Ana Calderon as well as a live performance by Beardo.

Aside from a Jeremy Scott hosted opening party and an exclusive The Selby Book release, you will be able to find lots of great vintage product, art and more in the new store.

The next awesome page in that history will be written in neon pink highlighter over the summer of 2010, when the Cobra Snake brings you the Pawn Shop. The Pawn Shop is located on the 4th floor of the Hollywood and Highland mall. About the Cobrasnake Pawn Shop Launch X The Selby Limited Edition Book Release Party.

The launch party is open to the public and will be on June 8th from 6pm – 9pm . It will be hosted by Jeremy Scott. The Selby paid a visit to artist Steve Powers aka ESPO in his studio space. It is always great getting an inside look at the spaces of creative people and especially of somebody as iconic as ESPO. The studio can be best described as a creative mess, that certainly has its own charm, with lots of art, sculptures and random inspirational pieces floating around. The Selby paid a visit to Kosuke Tsumara, the designer of Japanese fashion brand Final Home. Once again it is very interesting diving into the home of a creative, especially in this case, because Final Home has such a different approach to fashion than most others.

Photography Todd Selby’s forthcoming publication The Selby Is in Your Place just went up for pre-order at Amazon. As many of you know, Todd is gifted at taking portraits of “dynamic and creative people—authors, musicians, artists, and designers—in their home environments and posting them on his web site. Each profile is accompanied by Selby’s watercolor portraits of the subjects and objects from their homes, and illustrated questionnaires, which Selby asks each sitter to fill out. This book consists of over thirty profiles, many of which have never-before-seen, selected exclusively for the book. The result is a collection of unique spaces bursting with energy and personality that together create a colorful hodgepodge of inspirational interiors.” The book includes an introduction by Lesley Arfin and will hit retail May 2010.
