When Bape launched their new URSUS Bape Collection a couple of years ago, and chose Tet from WTAPS as creative director for the line, we were definitely excited. After years of doing the same thing and exclusively being known for super bold and colorful all over prints, it seemed like the right move. Tet took a bit of a more grown-up direction for the line, which was like WTAPS mostly inspired by vintage military goods.

Fast forward to 2011 and the Bape main line has at this point further adapted to general fashion trends as well, meaning that vintage and heritage goods have entered the collection. Collaborations with Harris Tweed and Mackintosh are part of the Bape main line, as well as work with Porter and other great brands. In our opinion, these kind of collaborations should have gone into the URSUS Bape line. Why?

Here we present the new URSUS Bape Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook. What can we say about it? To be honest not much, because it could not be any more boring. If it was labeled GAP, we would actually believe it. Simple tops, no exciting accessories and the entire more grown-up approach that we saw in the first collections also seems to be gone, best showcased by the 16 year old model, that was used for the lookbook. Unfortunately, URSUS Bape seems to have come to an end. That is at least our opinion. When we applauded the simplicity at launch time of the brand, it has become so simple at this point, that any excitement is simply missing. Simple is fine, but you still do need the right details to convince a customer.

More than half way into the season, we present the lookbook of URSUS Bape for Fall/Winter 2011, designed by Tet from WTAPS. We like the boots in the new collection, some of the outerwear and the overalls are also looking really nice, but are of course not easy to wear.

After the Trekking Boots, URSUS Bape has come out with another nice looking boot for Fall/Winter 2011. The Mocasine Boots feature a leather, suede and canvas upper, with the leathers being dark brown and the canvas military green. A nice light contrasting lining and leather laces make for good accent on the boot, which is sitting on a black Vibram outer sole.

New from their Fall 2011 Collection, URSUS Bape presents the Trekking Boot. The high rise boots come with a mixed leather and wool upper, with hiking boot lacing and little branding. The outer sole is provided by Vibram, resulting in an overall clean looking everyday boot for the coming colder season.

The TET designed URSUS BAPE collection has been a strong point in BAPE’s recent history. For AW11 they continue on with a more refined take on the Japanese streetwear look. Highlights include the mid-cut moc-toe boot pictured above, as well as a full range of apparel, denim and accessories.

Bape previews first items from their upcoming Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. On preview are clothing and shoes from the main A Bathing Ape line. Also they preview shoes, accessories and some first clothing from URSUS Bape and some nice collaborative pieces from G-Shock and Ambush. The collection looks very clean and certainly features some interesting items that we look forward to.

URSUS Bape has released the new Sailor Cap from their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. Both in form and overall style the cap takes an interesting approach, while remaining rather simple. Heavy contrasting white stitching is what first catches the eye on the otherwise clean military green and black uppers with matching white embroidered logo placement on the front.

Today we can give you a first look at the upcoming collaboration by Dr. Martens and URSUS Bape for Spring/Summer 2011. Designed by TET of WTAPS, the collaboration is based on the vintage saddle shoe from Dr. Martens. The shoes will come in three exclusive colorways. The shoes will launch exclusively at Bape stores, before coming in other colorways as part of the in-line Dr. Martens collection. The shoes are priced at 230 Pounds and will release soon.
