Once again Richard Mille raises the bar when it comes to innovation and presents his new RM056. Aside from the incredible split-second Chrono-Tourbillon movement, the most special feature of the watch is the full sapphire glass case, revealing every little detail on the inside of the watch. Of course that has its price – the Richard Mille RM056 goes for 1.65 Million USD. Only 5 of these will be made.

Swiss fashion watch maker Swatch kicks off the new year with a pair of sports-inspired Gent Originals, the Olympic Games Collection – London 2012. Created with one eye on fashion and the other on the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games, these merge pro-sport aesthetics and classic London design. The designers have given a nod both to British fashion’s mod heritage and the London 2012 Olympic Games logo by means of a two-toned palette.

We already gave you a look at the Top Gun Miramar Watch by IWC, but it looks like the Swiss watch maker will have a much wider offering in the Pilot Watch section of their line this year.

They entirely revamp the Pilot Watch Collection, including for 2012 the Top Gun Miramar in two versions and the iconic Big Pilot’s Watch in overall 5 versions, including premium metal and matte black versions of the watches with various movements and functions. The line-up looks fantastic and is the most interesting we have seen from IWC in many years.

From Japanese brand hobo we present their new Hideout Quartz Watch. The military watch comes with a striped canvas/leather strap in overall three colors. The hobo logo is embossed in small on the leather part of the strap. Look out for a release soon.

Swatch celebrates the Chinese Year of the Dragon with a limited Original Gent watch. The piece features an intricate Chinese dragon, drawn in blue on the white silicone strap, taking inspiration from classic blue and white porcelain artwork. Now available through Swatch.

Simple and timeless. If that’s what Ships Jet Blue was striving for when creating this Army Watch inspired by watches used by the British army during the 80’s, then they clearly achieved that with this piece. This watch will be available with two different colored straps: a red/white/blue and a black/grey. Both look great, but we’re partial towards the former. The watches will begin shipping mid-January and will be available through Zozo.

With the rise of vintage watches and especially vintage Rolex watches, along with the entire heritage trend, a good guide is certainly useful. Buying an old watch is not an easy task, because just like with an oldtimer, if a single piece is not original, the watch is of much less value and since we are talking about considerable investments here, getting it right is a must.

Today we get a first preview of a beautiful new watch by Swiss luxury watch brand IWC – the Top Gun Miramar Pilot’s Watch. This is only one of overall five new pilot’s watches that IWC will be releasing in 2012.

“The IWC Top Gun Miramar watch is a tribute to the place in California where the myth of the elite pilot (the “Top Gun”) was born.

This watch features a sleek looking dark grey ceramic case (48mm in diameter — pilot worthy, but far too large for me), and a somewhat vintage-military color set, including the green textile strap.”

The watch has a 48mm case, flyback chronograph movement, ceramic case and military green textile strap. A beautiful color combination and one of the best premium pilot’s watches we have come across to date. It will come out some time in 2012.

Last year, Oakley debuted its Gearbox watch and it was quite the success. This time, they will be dropping this new stealth/black/red color version, which will be shipping out mid-January. Check out some specs on the watch below:
