The New Gent watch by Swatch has certainly gained a lot of popularity these last 2 seasons. In 2012 the watch returns in the ‘New Gent Lacquered’ series. A series of colors of the watch comes as part of the series, with the special feature being the open multicolor movement. Each layer of the movement received a different color treatment. Look out for a release in early 2012.

Unfortunately still in concept stage, we take a look at a new watch concept by automotive enthusiast Marko Petrovic. Inspired by the Lamborghini Avenger unusual timepiece follows the design language of Lamborghini’s ultramodern hypercar, the Aventador. Both the materials chosen and modern looks of the watch nicely translate the sports car into a wristwatch. If the watch will actually make it into production, we have to wait and see.

To celebrate his 30 year long career, Japanese guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei has teamed up with G-Shock on their iconic DW-6900 watch. While keeping the overall look of the watch rather simple, his logo is on the watch backlight and further print designs have been placed on the strap of the watch. A release is scheduled for January 2012 in limited quantities.

A classic looking time piece/wrist watch might be an antiquated notion to some, especially with so many relying on their mobile devices for time telling, but for those still running watches, check out this Swiss Made Tsovet SVT. Limited to 25 pieces and retailing for $1,795, it comes in a black stainless steel with a PVD treatment, matching black band and a clear back.

Today we can preview an interesting new model to come from Swiss watch maker Hublot in 2012 – the King Power Unico GMT Watch. Featuring a new in-house developed movement, the watch showcases in a new innovative way 24 timezones on the dial.

“The four GMT discs move with the main time. Using the little red lines and city names around the bezel and inside of the dial you can tell the time in each of the 24 hour time zones. Neat right? I like the novel approach that combines a little Hublot, a time honored complication, and what feels like some Urwerk inspiration given a dial that looks like the satellite time display on the UR-103 series.

The King Power Unico GMT watch will come in a 48mm wide King Power case in either 18k king gold or in black ceramic. Both versions have ceramic bezels. Inside the watch is the Hublot caliber HUB 1220 automatic GMT movement with 72 hours of power reserve. Notice the placement of the main time adjustment pusher placed at about 2 o’clock on the case.”

A release is scheduled for early 2012, so keep your eyes open for these to turn up.

For Spring 2012, Nixon presents the new ‘The Steelcat’ watch. Inspired by popular high end watches from Hublot and Audemars Piquet, the brand has produced a nice looking steel case watch for the coming season. It comes with a custom 300 meter stainless steel case with domed sapphire crystal and with rubber bezel and screw down crown. Also it features a 5 hand Swiss quartz chronograph movement with minutes center hand timer.

The watch will release soon in three colorways, with the black and rose gold versions, seen here above, being our favorite.

Swiss watch maker Hublot has collaborated with the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne) over the last three years to develop new high tech materials for their watches. The first one is being revealed in their new Hublot Magic Gold watch. By fusing 24 karat gold with new high tech materials, they achieved a new type of 18 karat gold that is completely scratch resistant, creating a new type of noble gold. Here above the new material is shown on their Big Bang watch.

The first watches using Magic Gold by Hublot will be presented at Basel World 2012.

Los Angeles brand Fear Of God has teamed up with Nooka on a watch for Holiday 2011. They present a premium version of the Nooka ZOOV watch using python leather on the straps and gold on the case. Limited to 100 pieces, the watch will retail for 300 USD. A fill Fear Of God Spring/Summer 2012 Collection is also expected shortly.

Rolex just released about two months ago their new orange hand Explorer II watch, a nod to their original design from the 70s. Slightly bigger in size than the previous one, the watch has now also landed in the Bamford Watch Department, where it received the popular black PVD make-over. Should you decide to customize the watch, we suggest that you keep it simple – black watch, orange hand – that is already enough.
