The New Footpatrol London Store

The New Footpatrol London Store

With much anticipation many have awaited the re-opening of London’s premier sneaker boutique, Footpatrol, which surprisingly to many, closed a couple of years ago, after having been on the forefront of independent sneaker culture in the capital for so long. The new Footpatrol London store will open this month and has been designed by the Wilson Brothers and Brinkworth.

“Designed by Wilson Brothers and Brinkworth, the design of the store is as much a one-off as the products within, all of which have been individually selected by Michael Kopelman, the original Foot Patrol owner and current Creative Director.

Based in London’s Berwick Street, the store’s understated façade is simply a prelude to what has been achieved architecturally within. A ‘second’ shop, complete with pitched roof, has been constructed to float within the store shell, assembled from an urban palette of recycled scaffold board for the floors, walls and ceiling, teamed with satin black steel for the fixturing.

A fully-mirrored end wall accentuates the intimate scale of the ‘inner’ store, playfully reflecting the linearity of the design as an optical illusion, that appears to extend the store rearwards as an infinite space. Clever concealment of lighting and services, behind the pitched roof cladding, allows for a unique, sliding ‘library-style’ product display system, which can be extended along the whole length of the store, or nested at either end to leave space for special events or promotions.

This blend of modularity and function, offset with an aged vintage backdrop, creates the perfect stage for the final detail. The original, revered Foot Patrol gas mask logo, housed within an aged metal frame and rendered in white neon, meets customers as they enter the store through the ‘transition’ space, the antechamber where the outer and inner stores meet.”

Look out for the opening July 2010. Many more images of the new Footpatrol follow after the jump.

Nike Stadium London: "Pixaramic" & More by The Wilson Brothers

The Wilson Brothers once again worked on an interesting project for Nike. This time they built an impressive new interior at the Nike Sportswear 1948 retail space in London, along with many other great new design elements and furniture that were added to the space to celebrate the transformation Nike Stadiums.

Next to new seating, a illuminated running track, new shelves, as well as other small details, the Pixaramic display is certainly the most impressive of the re-design of the space by The Wilson Brothers. Take a look a the video here below, giving you a better idea of how the installation works and what it is capable of doing.

Stussy x Wilson Brothers – Hextable

RTEmagicC stussy wilson chair.jpg Stussy x Wilson Brothers Hextable
The Wilson Brothers announced “Hextable” – a special product for Stussy. After the success of the limited edtition chairfix that the Wilson Brothers created for Stussy London a couple of years ago, they were now asked to work on a new product for Stussy Japan.
"Hextable" is an occasional table for the home, and is made from two identical components that once popped out of their packaging, fold and lock into place to create an incredibly light yet strong structure. "Hextable" is made from recycled cardboard and is fully recyclable. Because of its Honeycomb core "Hextable" weighs in at an incredible 1.2 kg which it a very sustainable product for logistics. The product also features an all-over repeat Stussy Pattern which was hands screen printed in London. The product is limited to Japan and London only (London Store Covent Garden) and went on sale this past weekend! A nice and innovative project once again by Stussy and the Wilson Brothers.
