The new Y-3 Spring/Summer 2012 campaign by Collier Schorr takes its cue from the experimental city of Brasilia. Portraits are collaged with xeroxes of archival Brasilia, to suggest a delicate balance between the body and the many ways it is contained.

‘The Precipice’, Schorr’s fictitious travelogue, leads us further into Brasilia’s dramatic landscape of 20th century modernist architecture. In the campaign concrete structures that loom all around Brasilia read like excavated ruins from a future civilization.

After giving a teaser look at the ‘Great Britain’ Capsule Collection, we show you today the Y-3 Sneak shoes from the Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. Taking its base silhouette from the iconic Superstar sneaker, the upper construction is certainly very different, using large elastic cordes for closure, attached to hiking boot inspired, oversized hook eyelets. Look out for these to release early 2012.

We take an early look at the upcoming ‘Great Britain’ Collection by Y-3 for Spring/Summer 2012. Obviously the brand is thinking ahead and considering the upcoming London Olympic Games, the theme makes sense. The capsule collection consists of several bags, as well as sneakers. More detailed images will be available soon.

Over the weekend Y-3 presented their new Spring/Summer 2012 Collection during New York Fashion Week. We present a video recap of the catwalk show, presenting both mens and womens collections for the coming season. Enjoy!

Y-3 has just launched their new Fall/Winter 2011 Collection. While mostly sticking to white and black colors, Yamamoto classics, the brand also plays with some interesting Norwegian wool patterns in the line, giving the footwear a real winter feel.

As part of the series they present the mid top Courtside sneaker, the Moto Low and Moto High sneakers, as well as the Sprint running shoe. All of them mix premium cowhide leathers and Norwegian wool print uppers. The sneakers are now available in the official Y-3 online store.

Y-3 presents their new campaign film for their Fall/Winter 2011 Collection.

“The collection explored variations on a theme of escape, and was inspired by books such as Jack Kerouac’s On the Road and Jon Krakauer’s Into the Wild. This meant protection first and foremost, realized in exaggerated funnel-neck collars; simple modularity; voluminous, cocoon-like silhouettes; and intensive quilting on everything from hoods to coats to leggings. In classic Yohji Yamamoto fashion, prints and patches on select garments spelled out the collection’s theme, stating phrases like “Nowhere in Particular,” “Homeward Bound,” and “I’m on the Road.””

Made from durable Cordura Nylon, Y-3 presents the very solid Mobility Wheel Duffle as part of its Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. When it comes to backpacks and messenger bags, the choice is wide these days. But if you want something proper to travel for longer than a weekend, the situation is a different one. The Mobility Duffle comes in a nice mix of nylon and leather and features signature Y-3 accents in bright orange. For us, just the right amount of details to set it apart from the rest, while being timeless.

A solid new version of the Y-3 Hayworth 2 Mid has dropped for Spring/Summer 2011. The Hayworth is a basketball turned fashion sneaker, featuring premium leather upper with mesh toe box. The special detail about this particular new version are for sure the ankle strap and the window feature on the heel. The sneaker is now available from the official Y-3 online store.

In an interesting move Y-3 has added some dress shoes to their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. While the high fashion brands have been moving more and more into the sneaker market, it seems like we see the same happening now the other way around. The Y-3 Dress Lace is the best example for this trend. Featuring raw denim and perforated premium leather on the upper, the shoe combines Y-3 technology with casual design. The orange layer in the leather sole is a nice branding touch. The shoes are now available from the official and newly opened Y-3 online store.
